Concerned about driving long distance with a full car

I drive a Vauxhall corsa and am travelling 7.5 hours away for a family reunion.
coming home the car will have 5 passengers (including me) everyone has a seatbelt but I’m worried that it would be overloaded. One is a child, one is a 13 stone man and other 3 are all women around 8, 9 and 11 stone.
I’ve said I can only take a small bag home each and relatives will bring the rest back the next day.

Should I be worried about weight/capacity? It’s legally allowed of course I’m just concerned it will put strain on the car.

You'll be fine, although it may be a bit snug as others have said. I once drove from Leeds to Glastonbury and back in a 17 year old VW Polo, with the engine management light on and make it back in one peace! It was rather cosy though.

Reading these replies I'm wondering if I live on another planet. A corsas not that small. I've sat between two car seats from Edinburgh to London in a corsa, the journey certainly wasn't hell or impossible.

IKR! They're bendy teenagers, not arthritic elderly folk.

While its a bit bigger I took 5 adults in a 67 plate Kia Ceed Estate which has a 98bhp 1400cc engine over the A361 North Devon Link Road which is 'undulating' to say the least!

While I had to work the gears and think ahead it performed perfectly and was able to keep up with the traffic on the uphill stretches so I would not worry about performance unless its A 1L

I might worry more about the length of journey with no 'reserve driver

Whats the route, it sounds like England to Scotland or VV

It won’t stress the car at all but it will be hell for whoever sits in the middle of the rear seat.

They can swap every couple of hours.

OP's teenage child can drive, but she didn't want them being sole driver for that distance as a new driver. If OP can't manage the drive (it's not that bad...if they're not clock watching they can stop) then the DC can take over.

We drove from Yorkshire to Majorca in my Corsa. With my in-laws and our 12 year old. With a roof box. Yes really. You might just need to adjust the level of the lights so not to blind anyone if driving in the dark.

You’ll be fine!
