Where to stay on Arran

I had lots of help on here in picking where to visit in Scotland - thank you to everyone who commented.

My friend has picked Arran, and I’m hoping I can have recommendations as to where would be a good place to stay. Which small town or village.

They will be bringing a dog and ideally we’d be within walking distance of a good pub or two and some nice walks.

I know I can google, but nothing beats personal recommendations!

Thank you

I would say lamlash or whiting bay if you’re looking for places to eat and some drinks. Both lovely. The hotels are basic but nice enough. If you’re looking for a base to explore rest of island then Brodick is nice (auchrannie hotel and Douglas hotels are lovely)

We have stayed at the Kinloch Hotel at Blackwaterfoot twice and would definitely recommend.
There are hotel rooms and self catering apartments.

(And a small amazing bakery just at the back of the hotel which is very popular)

A reminder, if you are taking a car, to book the ferry well in advance as sailings at weekends can be very busy. Even then, bad weather can cause disruption and cancellations!
Blackwaterfoot, Lamlash and Whiting Bay all nice. There is a coastal path worth checking out, you can walk one way and get the bus back. Machrie Moor standing stones are a good walk.

Thank you. Were looking at either June or September next year

All good advice so far.
Arran is superb - IMO very underrated outside of Scotland.
