Where to stay near Co-Op arena Manchester

We’ve bought tickets to a gig at Co-Op live in Manchester. We’re looking for somewhere to stay in the area but the premier inn/travel lodges that are closest are charging more than the cost of both the tickets

Does anyone know the area and know of anywhere we could stay around the £80-£100 mark

We’re happy to get a bus/train to or near the venue from a hotel. We’re driving down and I’m not a big drinker so we’re also happy to drive in from a hotel to near the venue. Happy to walk if needed. Just don’t know the area too well

Any suggestions welcome 😊

Prices go up when there are big events.

Look for somewhere in/off the city centre rather than nearby. There will be 100s walking back.

That or somewhere along the tram line.

What's the date? We stayed in the city centre. Manchester Central (not the one by the AO Arena, the one on Blackfriars Street) is usually cheapest. Alternatively look at the hotels around Salford Quays. A bit more awkward to get to but do-able on the tram.

I'd advise not driving to the arena. Getting off the car parks is a nightmare.

Also try Ashton under Lyne

Thanks! It’s 17th Jan. We’re happy to just stay somewhere a bit further out and make our way in. Will have a look at your suggestions

We stayed at the Residence Inn by Marriot (Piccadilly). We walked to the Co-op from there and jumped on the tram back. It was a great location and the room was huge! It would have fitted about ten King size beds.

I would stay at Travel lodge Ashton under Lyne as that's the opposite way on the tram line!

Comefromaway · 03/09/2025 13:11

Manchester Central Travelodge is £108, Ashton under Lyne is £101 & Manchester Riverside is £78. Riverside is the more awkward journey.

@Comefromaway thabk you. Might go for Ashton as there are buses/trams to get to/from at the times we would need it so happy with that 😊

If it's just a place to lay your head @Handbagcuriosity

@Handbagcuriosity
We stayed at the premier inn at Ashton. The tram stop is about 3 mins walk from the hotel, and it takes you directly to the Coop Arena. At the end of the evening, it is good to get on the tram in the opposite direction to everyone heading back into the city. We were back at the hotel within 25 mins of the concert ending.
I'm not sure what day you're going but we got a tram ticket on the Friday that covered the whole network from 6pm on the Friday until the last train on the Sunday for £6.80, absolute bargain!

I would book parking for Asda - literally 2 mins walk and drive to a hotel en route for home. The arena car park is £25 😯
