Going for a week and forecast looks like a lot of rain. No kids but we have a dog which limits non outdoor stuff I guess.

So any recommendations for dog friendly indoor stuff please Staying at Perranporth between Newquay and St Ives. Will have a car.

We went to Perranporth at Easter and it rained a lot.

We did lands end, there is a fair amount of indoor stuff there. And then just coats with hoods while you’re outside.
Also Discovering 42 science museum was interesting if a little disorganised.

Oh I don’t know if any of those things are dog friendly, sorry, I should have read your OP properly

This attraction is dog friendly and worth visiting

We found loads of pubs that were dog-friendly in that area and passed some wet afternoons holed up in a cosy pub doing crosswords!

I think with the dog, you'll just need to gear up for the weather.

Tehidy Woods are in striking distance and good for a more sheltered walk, but wear wellies if there has been a lot if rain.

Seal sanctuary sounds good though I suspect mainly outside. Think that yes gearing up may be the only option, and pubs 🙈😂

Tehidy woods look lovely, thanks for that.

Seal sanctuary at Gweek,. go on line to find things. The gardens at Heligan and Trebah are interesting as is the Eden project of course Padstow has a Lobster Hatchery. Padstow has special memories for me but I understand it's a bit twee now.

I can’t imagine the dog would be keen, she doesn’t even like puddles 😁. I can’t leave her on the beach by herself.

Truro has lots of dog friendly cafes and shops… I can hear the collective mumsnet shudder. Also Falmouth does but that will be heaving on a wet day where as Truro not so much.

Trelissick gardens and the Penrose estate in helston. National trust dogs allowed outside parts. Also glendurgan. Dogs on short leads.

We find you often get rain for the morning in Cornwall but with a brighter afternoon. Hopefully you will get some periods of better weather despite the forecast.

I'm more familiar with the Penzance area but some possible ideas:

  • Paradise Park is a zoo in Hayle.
  • The museum of telecommunications is OK. It has indoor stuff and you can also do a tour of the Minack (or even better see a show at the Minack). The Minack is open air but absolutely stunning whatever the weather.
  • Jubilee Pool - swim in the rain and book a geothermal pool session afterwards to warm up.
  • Afternoon tea in a hotel or restaurant with a sea view.

I hope you have a good time.

Thanks everyone. Think I have a potential itinerary for 6 days. All days involve some outside (with waterproofs) but hopefully some indoor stuff too if it’s awful. Like a pp said maybe parts of the day will be drier?

Cornwall ideas

Mousehole and penzanze (art gallery and shops)

Porthleven, helston, Penrose peninsular NT walks and trevena cross garden centre. Museum of Cornish life in helston is dog friendly.

Newquay and crantock beach. Newquay garden centre

Cornish seal sanctuary and lizard peninsular beaches

Pentire steps beach (low tide can get to bedruthan for two hours), then padstow? Lobster hatchery

Tehidy woods

I’ve been to Heligan and Trellisk before. Been to the Porthcurno museum before.

Don’t fancy the Eden project if I can’t go in the domes. Don’t fancy the tin mine place if I can’t go underground.

Have been to Falmouth, Fowey and St Ives before so wanted to not go again/try other places.

Sounds like a good itinerary!

The seal sanctuary is great (I did a day work experience there when I was 15 which was erm... over half mu lifetime ago! :O so experience us rather out of date!) Its on my list for my next trip home with my toddler...

Porthleven is a good beach for a walk - take care if swimming, it has particularly nasty currents and is one to always stay less than waist height depth in. The town is quite nice for a potter too.

The walk from Penzance to Mousehole along the front and via Newlyn is a favourite of mine. You can park by the promenade and start from the end. Penzance has some quite nice parks generally.

Other ideas -

Glendurgan is a favourite NT garden of mine, if you did fancy NT stuff - particularly nice us that you do end up on a little beach at the bottom.

St Ives, especially with a walk around the island? Though if its windy, you'll be blown to bits!

Have a great trip!
