I went there many moons ago and did not have any vacancies.
I stayed in the Sunny beach area.

Hep A is a good vaccination to have for any travelling. It only takes one person working in a kitchen with poor hygiene and you could get very ill.

Here now! We are near to nessebar (but still in sunny beach) have had no vaccinations. All good.

ForWarmPeachBird · 16/08/2025 19:49

I’ve been three times and didn’t have any vaccinations.

FourIsNewSix · 16/08/2025 22:58

Hep A is a useful vaccination to get, as the protection lasts, the disease is ugly and you can catch it anywhere in the world.

That said, I don't think touristy areas of Bulgaria are specifically high risk for hep A. Actually, in my country the recommendation is to get this jab before going to the UK as well.

I'd say yes, get it, but not specifically because of Bulgaria, take it as a base for any further traveling and against bad luck at your home country.

I've been to Bulgaria, it was in an all inclusive hotel though and we didn't go off the beaten track!

At that stage I hadn't had Hep A vaccine. But I've been to more far flung places since then and had Hep A jab, plus the booster which should last 25 years!

I agree with these two posters.

I guess it depends how risk averse you are and your travel/holiday plans. Staying in a resort in a heavy tourist area? The risk will be low. Heading off the beaten track - the risk will be higher. Likely to travel somewhere else in the future that would require the vaccination? Worth it now then most probably.

I would if it was me.

Is Tiera beach hotel still in operation? It was / is at the far end of the sunny beach resort. I have stayed there AI a few times. 🌞⛱️

Yes we are in that area, tiara beach is still there. It’s nicer this end than in the main bit

Edited

Please excuse my phones rotten spelling.
It's good to know Tiara beach is still in business. I liked it there as it was away from the centre but still had some great pubs and cafes / restaurants near by and a little bit quieter but still only a short walk to the center.
I hope you have a great holiday

( me jealous? no not me, not at all , nope definitely not 🥹 )

Check your travel insurance. Our ds isnt upto date with vaccinations and we struggled to get him insurance. Most policies have a clause so they won't pay out if you contract any of the diseases or in some cases anything else depending on the wording. We had to get the paediatrician to write a letter to say he was exempt and couldn't have the vaccinations (and why).

For most policies you need to be upto date with all UK recommended vaccines and any recommended for where you are travelling to.

Edit: we only found one company that would insure him.
