Can anyone give me an idea how long it would take to do any of the following, just generally walking around (not allowing time for coffee/lunch/shopping).

Walk around Dean Village and Stockbridge. I'll start off in Haymarket and I guess end up in the main city and am thinking that'd add 40mins.

Walk up Arthurs Seat, then back near and through the Meadows.

National Museum of Scotland

General potter along Royal Mile, famous streets like Cockburn Street, Victoria Street.

Royal Yacht Britannia. How long to walk to Leigh (unless I get bus) and how long would be needed there?

Just trying to work out how I fit is all into my trip.

How long will you be there for @Sunnyside4?

If you wanted to do everything on your current itinerary and have guid strong legs, you'd need a minimum of 2 days.

Braw scottish scran will keep ye in fine fettle hen 😉

Assuming you are talking leisurely sightseeing pace -

Haymarket - Dean Village - Stockbridge - City Centre, 2-3 hours

Arthur's Seat, fastest route to the summit about 20 minutes from Holyrood if you are fighting fit an not taking breaks. Twice that if it's a leisurely stroll around the radical road and then up the back route. Back to the west end of the town via the Meadows, all told, 2 hours or so assuming you are starting from the base of the Seat.

NMS - leave at least two hours if you plan to see most of the exhibits and like to read cards etc, longer if you want coffee breaks.

Mile, Victoria st, Cockburn st,- from Holyrood to castle, with diversions down Cockburn st then Victoria st, again, at least two hours, but depending how many daundering tourists impede you this could overrun.

There is literally bugger all but Brittania at Ocean Terminal these days, I've never visited, but it isn't exactly huge so I don't think it would take long to get around. Leith proper is a good 40 minute walk from the City Centre, and OT is even further on. I wouldn't recommend walking unless you want to take in Leith Walk, which has been heavily gentrified of late, and then the Shore area, because you can walk past the Scottish Executive buildings to get to OT from the Shore. Assuming you wanted to do that it's probably an hour from Princes St to OT. Buses are frequent, and the most direct route is about 20 mins.

Agree with timings of pp.
You could add in the Botanic gardens to Stockbridge.
For Leith you can take the tram.

Did you ask similar on Trip Advisor too?
are you staying near Haymarket because you don't need to go that far west to walk to Dean Village if you're staying in the city centre.Head down to the west end of Princes Street, along Queensferry street and follow the tourists down Bell's Brae.
From Haymarket, I'd go Palmerston Place - Belford Road - Dean Village - follow the river path into Stockbridge - North West Circus Place - up to Howe Street and follow that straight up the hill back to Princes St. That's 3km so less than an hour of walking time.

Thanks for your replies. I think it's all doable in the time I've got, I just don't want to be rushing around like crazy so wanted to know now if it wasn't going to work. I'll get the bus/tram some of the time, but generally walk everywhere locally and our local hill is steeper and over a shortage distance than Arthurs Seat.
