Train ticket help

Don't know if anyone can help, but on the off chance....
I used Trainline and booked a return journey from Newcastle to Brighton.
Obviously, I go into King's Cross and change.
I've always gone from St Pancras to Brighton, which is perfect for me, but stupidly just bought the tickets without checking.
The ticketing has me going to Brighton from Victoria, but on return into St Pancras.

So.. my question is, will I be able to just use the existing ticket to go from St Pancras, or do I need to find someone at a train station who can change it for me?

I know it's probably an impossible question🤣

You need to contact Trainline. No station staff can change this for you. Ring them, they are really helpful.

Have you booked an advance ticket on a specific train?
If so, you'll need to go from Kings Cross to Victoria. It's a short hop on the tube.

If you've booked a regular single or return ticket, perhaps with a reservation on a particular train, I imagine you'll be okay finding someone sympathetic at the St Pancras barriers to let you through.

I’m puzzled why Trainline would offer you that routing as it’s clearly bonkers!

But as pp have said, it depends on the ticket type(s). If it’s a through ticket from Newcastle to Brighton, perhaps with a specific train on the Newcastle to London leg, then you should be fine just going to St Pancras.

If it’s two advance tickets, one of which is Victoria to Brighton then you’ll have to do that or change the ticket in advance (or just buy a separate ticket from St Pancras to Brighton, which may be cheaper than changing the ticket). Also if it’s two separate tickets then bear in mind you’ll have to pay separately for the tube from Kings Cross to Victoria.

I know! It never occurred to me to check😒
I booked Newcastle to Brighton. They gave me reserved seats to King's Cross, then simply the train booking to Brighton and back.
I'll give them a ring and even if it costs a new ticket, I'll change it.
I honestly do appreciate its probably very easy to get across to Victoria, but I just don't want to.
I like just strolling across the road 🙂

Thanks for the help!

It's bizarre - outward journey, it is a specific train and time Newcastle to Brighton, but then it just says London Victoria to Brighton. No times, no specific train.
Coming back, it is a timed train from Brighton and it specifically says 'Train taken must call at London St Pancras'.

I'll ring them🙄

Does the ticket cover cross-London travel?
If so, it will probably get you through the barriers at St Pancras. If that fails, I'd just try to blag my way through the barriers or failing that (unlikely!) buy a ticket from St Pancras to London Bridge and rely on your existing ticket for the rest of the journey.

Just a quick update, Trainline won't help, they say they can't amend a booking.
Advised me to rebook the whole journey and they would refund the original booking, but as prices have increased considerably, that makes no sense.
I'm just going to wander across the road and buy a ticket to Brighton from St Pancras when I arrive.
Thanks for the help everyone 👍
