Journey break near Birmingham

I am travelling with 9yr old DD. We drive from Bristol to Lincolnshire on Friday and want to break the journey.

Contemplating options. 1. Lego Discovery Centre. 2. Something near or in Stratford-Upon-Avon, maybe Anne Hathaway’s Cottage.

It’s just for a couple of hours to make a long drive less arduous and a nice opportunity to do something. She is pretty easy going and loves both Lego and history.

Any experiences of either. Or alternative suggestions?

lego discovery will depend on the time of day as it closes early in the week.
If you wanted you could do a combi ticket of sealife and lego discovery/cadbury world but that would probably take up the whole day.

Weather is going to be scorching otherwise I’d suggest a trip to the wildlife conservation park at cannon hill. Basically a small zoo but there’s loads to do at cannon hill park too.

Is that Lego discovery in the middle of town? I really wouldn’t bother with that. There must be somewhere easier to stop than the middle of Birmingham.

I would opt for something Stratford way. I think you can even do park and ride there which will make traffic and parking easier.

Love Birmingham but in your shoes I’d stop at a National trust place like Hanbury Hall at Droitwich. Fresh air, shady trees, scones and ice cream. Then back on the m5 to complete the trip. You don’t need to be faffing about in the town centre with clean air zone charges and ££ parking unless your girl really really loves Lego (I’d just buy her a set to play with at the destination)

Thank you all. This is really helpful. I’m looking up Hanbury Hall as we have National Trust.

Yes Hamburg Hall, you will also pass Croome. Or look up Avoncroft Museum of buildings which is also near Hanbury.

Hanbury not Hamburg!

It’s got a nice play area - and if you peep into the hall you’ll see a massive painting by the guy who painted the inside of St Paul’s cathedral of Queen Ann and her favourite ladies. Fun!
