We’re planning on visiting the North East coast for a few nights in July. Never been to that neck of the woods before so would love some recommendations of nice places to stay. Looking to book self catering cottage. Planning on visiting Lindisfarne and Cragside while we’re there.

Was about to recommend a few places but now I realise you mean the NE of England so I can't help.
There are 4 nations in the UK, people. And 3 of them have NE coasts.

Bamburgh is probably the sort of area that would suit you. Also consider inland a bit, such as Alnwick.

Alnmouth is nice. Or Amble. Depends what you want really. Whitley Bay/Tynemouth more central if you fancy visiting Newcastle too.

Amble would suit, or Warkworth

Cragside is amazing. Bamburgh, Craster, Alnwick, Walkworth all nice. Farne Isles lovely to visit. Walk from Craster to Dunstanburgh castle.

Coquet Cottages have some beautiful cottages in that part of the world.

Cragside and Holy Island are both brilliant days out but don't forget to check tide times, it unbelievable how frequently people are caught out. You can also get a boat over from Seahouses Harbour.

There's a lovely walk from Craster to Dunstanburgh Castle and the castle is free for NT members.

Howick Hall and Gardens are really beautiful and do a lovely afternoon tea.

Ford and Etal is another lovely day out, you can get the train from Heatherslaw and there's a pottery place called Ravn Clay if you fancy doing something crafty.

Seahouses is great base.

Came on to say Craster. You can get great kippers!
