Open train ticket around the UK

Having gone down a rabbit hole I’m not sure if this scenario is possible.
I want to get one train ticket and head off for 7-10 days around the UK , going where I fancy every day..from central London maybe up the west coast and across then down the east.
Would I really need to split the tickets or is there a magic card that would do this?
The issue is I don’t want to plan each stop/day .. just go where I fancy .
or do I end up doing it by car and miss out on some fabulous scenery!

You'd just have to buy each journey when you've decided. It's not like you can't book last minute.
You can buy a ticket for a train up to 20 minutes before the train goes

I had thought of this but was hoping it would be cheaper to have one ticket that covers it all

Have a look at this:

But you are better off having some sort of itinerary for train times and accommodation.

There used to be ones called Rover tickets.
I don't know if they still exist.
Edit : a quick look on nationalrail.co.uk says they do still exist plus ones called Rangers.
I didn't look in detail though about where they cover and all that.

Where do you live?

There are several good value passes for visitors living overseas, even if they're originally British.

However, if you live in the UK, you're stuck with the All Line Rover, which is rather expensive, and has morning peak restrictions on some services from central London.
