Which is better for kids - Dublin or York?

Looking to do a UK city break for 3 nights on my own with 2 children, 11 and 13.
Live in Scotland and only want to travel 2-3 hours, train or fly.
Which would be better for kids? Dublin or York?
Or somewhere European that's not too expensive? Done Paris recently which we liked.

Any suggestions?

Check out the Guy Fawkes Inn, their pies are sublime! Guy Fawkes was actually born there, and it's very atmospheric, children are welcome but it's best to book!

Elvington air museum should be on your list if you do come to York op.

I can’t comment on any of the others, but York has loads!

Jorvik and Dig museums
Rowntree Park on the outskirts but walkable from centre
Web adventure park (bus from city centre)
Railway museum and wonderlab
Hole in the wand mini golf
York chocolate story
Walk on the city walls
Board game cafe
Gaming cafe/ bar

@Pootles34 it is on the list but would be relying on public transport to get there plus lots of things in the centre to do.

You can probably get a Uber cheap enough, but yes there is plenty to do in the centre, it was just the plane thing really!

Definitely York.

Depending on your children's ages and interests there is loads to do in Belfast.

I took my then 13 & 17 year olds for a few days and we did a 3 hour guided political walking tour, visited Crumlin Road Gaol, Belfast Cathedral, Titanic museum, walked the Maritime Mile, went up the Dome at Victoria Square, Belfast City Hall, hired a car and went to Stormont & Giants Causeway and more. Absolutely one of our best city breaks.

There’s far more to do in Belfast rather than Dublin, especially for kids! Much safer too. Dublin City centre is a scary place these days

I would say less to do in Dublin and it’s extremely expensive. We enjoyed York but not sure I could do a few days.

Another vote for Belfast. There’s the Titanic Museum, Crumlin Road Goal, Botanic Gardens and the Ulster Museum and the city centre is very walkable with loads of good eating options. Also easy to go on coach day trips to North Coast and Giant’s Causeway or if you hire a car, a short drive in the other direction will take you to Mourne mountains and two brilliant forest parks in Castlewellan or Newcastle.
