There's naff all to do for 20 somethings who actually live in Easingwold unless you just want to spend the whole weekend in tearooms! Never mind someone visiting. 🤣 I'd strike that one off the list.

Echoing the Whitby suggestion.

Bjorkdidit · 10/04/2025 07:11

If they liked Hebden Bridge, Knaresborough might suit, or Whitby. Durham is only an hour on the train from Leeds and doesn't feel like a busy city but is very picturesque.

Helmsley is also a good shout if they'll be driving.

Holmfirth has a similar vibe to Hebden Bridge

Still looking fir ideas, we live between leeds and York so not either of them or Beverley. I'm thinking Ripon or Thirsk maybe, or Richmond. They've done Hebden Bridge and absolutely loved it so something along those lines.

I went to Thirsk recently and was very underwhelmed.

Richmond has a nice river walk.

Harrogate is a good shout. Plenty of relaxing things to do, the spa, nice gardens, Everyman cinema, art gallery theatre etc…but also bars and restaurants. It’s not all Betty’s tea rooms!

sallylondon · 18/04/2025 15:11

Saltaire?

SwanOfThoseThings · 18/04/2025 15:26

Knaresborough. Much nicer than Harrogate!

Decided on Richmond, found a fabulous airbnb just off the market square

Richmond is nice, recommend archers ice cream at the old train station.
Also if you’re looking for a nice walk I can recommend the Richmond to Easby Abbey circular.

Yes, this is the walk we just did. It's lovely! And the old train station cafe is nice.
