Going for a weekend to London in May with my daughter to celebrate her 21st. We are going to see Moulin Rouge and looking for good hotel recommendations and other must do things.

Travelling down by train on Friday and back on Sunday, Moulin Rouge is the Saturday.

Going to do one of the bus tours to see the landmarks and am thinking of ABBA Voyage but the tickets are very expensive so wondering if it was worth it? Trying to fit in some shopping and wanted to go to the ice bar but that’s looks to be closed down now?

Never been to London so we are really excited but no idea where to stay or what is a must do.

All suggestions greatly appreciated, thank u xx

Hi everyone thank you all for your responses and sorry for not updating, my mum sadly passed away between times.

We did go to London on my mums blessing and it was amazing and sad at the same time.

We stayed in the Z hotel in Covent Garden and it was perfect, although as previous poster said unless you really close with who you are sharing with it isn’t for you. DD and I thought it was perfect but wouldn’t be sharing with a friend.

We arrived early Friday afternoon at Kings Cross, Uber to hotel as we had no clue how to get there, left cases and had a wander around, excellent location! Jumped on the open top bus and were on it for far to long, bad timing as into rush hour at the end. Things to learn from that were watch what route they selling you, we were red and in hind site only needed blue and remember and pick up earphones when you enter, we didn’t know till someone told us.

That night we went to the sky gardens as PP (sorry on app and don’t know how to tag) suggested and wow wow wow what a view!! We had dinner (very overpriced but excellent) and booked for drinks after. We absolutely loved it and watched day turn to night and the city changing, breathtaking.

Saturday we had breakfast in Covent Garden and tried to figure out the tube. A lovely guard at the tube told us all you have to do it tap your card entering and leaving as many times as you like and you’ll be charged at the end of the day, so easy! Then as PP suggested Fortnam and Mason (my favourite colour is turquoise and it was a haven lol) and liberties and a few shops in between. The dinner at a lovely Italian back at Covent Garden and Moulin Rouge.

Oh my Moulin Rouge was absolutely fantastic!! An absolute visual delight and the singing was exceptional. I was worried I wouldn’t know the songs but they used all modern songs and we knew the words to every one, I would go again, amazing.

Sunday was a quick breakfast, Covent Garden markets. Cocktails and back home.

So much more we wanted to do so 100% going back again.

Hope someone finds this useful xx

Where will your train down stop? Paddington Basin is just round the corner from Paddington Station, it has a Premiere Inn, a Hilton and some apparthotels. Few restaurants and bars in the area and is just down the road from Edgeware Road and the Bakerloo line which takes you quite near to Leicester Square.

Or the South Kensington Premier Inn which is near to Earls Court and on the Picadilly line which will take you to Covent Garden.
