Lake District hotel/walk recommendations with a 10 month old please? ⛰️

We are loosely considering a long weekend in the Lake District with DS when he would be about ten months old.

We normally go to B&Bs but I’d be worried that if DS were upset or crying one night, he’d wake the whole guest house up!

I’d really appreciate not only any accommodation recommendations but also any walking routes that would be suitable for an infant presumably in a carrier but maybe in a pram too, if they exist?!

We enjoy Grasmere, Windermere etc but also happy to try somewhere new.

Thank you!

There's a nice flat path around Derwentwater from Keswick. www.keswick.org/what-to-do/walking-routes/derwentwaterwalk If you can't manage the whole loop, you could do an out-and-back in either direction.

This is also doable with a buggy or carrier www.lakedistrict.gov.uk/visiting/things-to-do/walking/routes-and-maps/routes-and-maps2/map-1

Tarn Hows is a lovely and easy circular walk around the lake. There's a decent path all around it and no hills so you can use a buggy.

There's a walk that's a bit mire challenging in Ambleside which takes you up to some nice waterfalls. Stock Ghyll Falls. You can walk along the road front Ambleside to the falls but to see them properly you need to walk through the woods a bit which would be tricky with a buggy. There is a longer circular walk you can do there if you wanted to.

We've stayed here before and I can highly recommend.

The two forest parks, Grizedale and Whinlatter, have some nice buggy friendly walks.

Thanks all, some excellent starting points here for us 😊

We stayed at Black Beck caravan site when DC was 11 months old, for the similar reason of not wanting to disturb other people! Black Beck is close to Grizedale Forest, about 25 mins away from Ulverston. It took approx 20/25mins to drive to the southern tip of Windermere.

We drove an hour to Ravenglass to go on the heritage steam railway which was great.

There's a lovely walk Keswick to Threlkeld which is fully pram friendly and you can get the bus back if you don't want to walk.

Derwentwater has a good walk around it, like a boardwalk.

Elterwater is fine for pram or carrier.

FYI Buttermere can be very busy for parking and sometimes part of the path is flooded, so we haven't been there since having DC.

White Moss Woods is a lovely area and shouldn't feel too difficult with a carrier.

Miles Without Stiles is a good resource to see walks which are accessible and have decent paths, so you aren't worried about scrambling etc with a carrier.

We've found a child friendly cottage using the Sykes Cottages app so I would recommend downloading this to have a look.

You might find this link useful for some more pushchair friendly walks.
