Low cost/free recommendations in London in March

Looking for some recommendations for things to do in London in March.

We're staying in a hotel in W2 4QB, nearest tube station is Bayswater. We're just there for 3 days.

We're looking forward to some nice food and drinks. Things on our to do list include Kew Gardens, the Shard, Natural History Museum. We probably won't have much time left after that, but are getting to think of low cost things to do.

Also grateful for recommendations for restaurants/bars/cafes etc.

TIA

Many of the museums and galleries are free. The V&A and Science Museum are both free and close to the NHM. The British Museum and National Gallery are both worth a look.

The automaton museum is free to enter, but you do need to pay to 'have a go' on things, but it's not expensive and a fun, different experience.

The South Bank Centre is free and always has something going on, you can also see the street entertainers outside.

The Sky Garden is free as an alternative to the Shard.

For most you do need to book online, even the free ones, so make sure to do that.

Well you're right in the centre and as long as the weather is ok you'll find loads of free or low cost things to do.. for instance Hyde Park, Green Park and St James's Park are all in walking distance.. plenty of other free museums (science, V&A, British) and don't forget all the galleries too (National, Tate, Tate Modern). A boat trip along the Thames to Greenwich and a walk up the hill to the observatory is always a great day out and planetarium shows are pretty low cost (only about £6 I think). Food wise, not much is cheap but you can take a picnic to any park or in the downstairs area at the science museum. Have fun!

Serpentine Galleries in Hyde Park if you like modern art or Kensington Palace if you prefer a more traditional style. Depending on when you are there you might catch a concert at Royal Albert Hall which is an experience!
