Myself and my husband are going to an edm festival in the summer (can't wait) but also it's in Manchester and I'd love to have a look around, where would you recommend to go? We're 30, love music and dance but also museums and art

I've heard Manchester is more friendly and I hope that's true cos I live in misery central it seems 😂

Manchester is a very friendly place , we are a nice bunch of people ( on the whole )
All of the below are very close to the city center , easy to get to by car or public transport.

Depending on the date you are coming up , have a look what's on at those venues.

O2 Apollo https://g.co/kgs/oZsMfCd

Manchester Academy https://g.co/kgs/3ZKfEVt ( 3 venues next to / in the same building)

AO Arena https://g.co/kgs/YMb6cxS

Science and Industry Museum https://g.co/kgs/VkbeHEp

I went on this last summer it's a wonderful way to spend a hour or so .

Palace Theatre Manchester https://g.co/kgs/W1wbNPD

The Lowry https://g.co/kgs/9doiUmt

There is also of course Manchester City and Manchester United football which both do tours but you have to book in advance and they can be expensive

Are you staying over night ?

Brilliant, thank you!

We're overnight for 2 nights as we're going to Parklife festival

If you're in Prestwich/Heaton Park area, you could always take the tram to Bury and have a look around the brilliant Bury Market .It about a 12 minute journey.

Have a potter around the Northern Quarter, lots of places to go for food / drinks.

Also worth going to the craft and design centre:

And Afflecks:

You could also have a quick wander round Urbis (National Football Museum) although I always thought it was a bit rubbish, quite like the sideways lift though. Then the Cathedral is next to that, and the Triangle (which is apparently now just called the Corn Exchange) for some food.

It's not a long walk from there up to the Northern Quarter really, most bits of the middle of Manchester are very walkable.

Excellent thank you! Heaton Park is exactly where we'll be

I think I visited Afflecks as an emo many years ago so will definitely pop back and have a look!
