Love Cromer! Old fashioned sea side town, sandy beach, crazy golf, arcades, pier, etc and preserved steam train line in nearby Sheringham.

Yes, we went last year. The zoo was okay, quite a small zoo but clean and reasonably priced. The beach last year was undergoing some kind of work with diggers etc but still nice, very busy. The kids complained about the beach being too stony to walk on, not enough sand?! We had amazing weather, though, last summer. We are booked again this year in August, but that is more for the resort which we all loved. There was a fair on last year that we didn't go to, so if its on again this year we'll take the kids to that. There are plenty of nice little shops in Cromer to look round too, then you've got a big Morrison's and a Factory shop etc for your holiday essentials. We like it but we probably didn't do as much as some do as we spent a lot of time at the resort, swimming and sunbathing.

We did a week of camping in Cromer when our DC were very young and had a great holiday.

Beach and pier are nice and the steam railway was a good day out ( I think we drove to Sherringham to do that)

There were funfair rides for small children all along the promenade when we went.

We did crabbing off the pier but the best crabbing was at Blakeny - we tend to drive about and explore quite a bit on our holidays and there are loads of good days out from Cromer.

We live in Norfolk and always go to the coast every summer. Cromer is our least favourite beach to honest! Everyone raves about it but it’s all pebbles and not as nice as Caister and Winterton. If you can go further down to Southwold (Suffolk) that’s very much like Cromer but with a sandy, nicer beach.

Gorleston has the best beach… very traditional bucket and spade shops and fish and chips!

also a splash zone for the kids and a yacht pond for model boats… nice places to eat and lifeguards through the summer! It’s a really lovely family place to be! Also Great Yarmouth is down the road for a busier time with great stuff for kids… swimming, Joyland and the Pleasurebeach and amusements etc… Yarmouth gets a bad wrap but it’s a nice day out with kids I think.

Cromer is a nice little town but don't rate the beach really.
Much nicer beaches here

Agree Gorleston beach is lovely as well.

Cromer is really nice and the lifeboat station and museum are great. There are nice places for fish and chips. It is actually a sandy beach and I really like it. Sheringham has a pebble beach but is also really nice to visit.
in my opinion West Runton is a really nice beach nearby for visiting with kids. There is sand and rock pools, a cafe and the toilets and car park aren’t too far to walk.
North Norfolk is just really lovely, we prefer it to Devon and Cornwall. So many lovely places to visit.

We love Cromer. Last time we went we booked to see the summer show at the theatre on the pier. It was brilliant, a proper old fashioned summer show. There’s so much to see and do in the area. Make sure you have some crab sandwiches while you’re there.

You'll have a lovely time, Cromer is very pleasant

DeepFatFried · 21/02/2025 11:30

Mundesley has a great beach, the Village Chip Shop (with the yellow shop sign) is very good and good value. Good little park / skate park, crazy golf.

Not great for eating out.

Still easy driving distance to many places mentioned upthread.

If you need to do a supermarket shop Cromer and North Walsham are your best nearest.

If it rains Stompers indoor play in N Walsham for little ones. Pools at N Walsham and Sheringham. Bowling at N Walsham. Cinema at Cromer.

Wroxham Barns is a good place for children.

mrssunshinexxx · 21/02/2025 14:14

Yes, it has animal petting, as well as play park, some rides, go-kart, various activities, soft play etc. Once you have paid to go in you can do it all for the day, I think.
