UK Birthday Break / Experience for Children Under 10

My DC have decided to pass on birthday parties this year and would like to go away somewhere in the UK. Amongst others, we've done Legoland, Harry Potter and London sightseeing, which were big hits, but looking for something different. Doesn't have to be a theme park - could be an area with lots of child-friendly things to do. Looking for a few days away. Love the coast, but a small city is a possibility.

They are quite outdoorsy DC and enjoy exploring. Interested in history, but also anything fun! Considered Centre Parcs, but school holiday prices are very high. Ideally it would feel a bit special/out of the ordinary, as it is for their birthdays. Any ideas?

I book through Breakfree holidays all the time & it's such a cheap base to use to explore new places. They're all haven/parkdean caravans so not dodgy/rough areas & such good value outside of school holidays

How about Bristol? Quite a lot of fun stuff to do there.
