Manchester parking on Sunday

Going to see Paul McCartney on Sunday at the Co-op Live. Have just discovered Man City are playing United at the City Ground with kickoff about an hour before we need to arrive.

Anyone got any suggestions for where to park? 20,000 people at the gig and probably 60,000 at the footie sound like a massive parking challenge. Public transport is out of the question as our last train home on a Sunday is at 10pm.

Last time DD went to a gig there she used a park on my driveway app.
Please give yourself loads of time, Manchester is busy at the best of times but this weekend its going to be rammed, some local press is advising NOT to vist.
Although, I appreciate you have tickets for something
Hope it all goes Ok and you enjoy it

Every car park I can find online within about 3 miles is either full or someone wants £100 to park on their drive. Think we may just have to try and get there really early, park somewhere miles away like Salford, get a tram and then walk to and from the venue frm the city centre.

Who are you travelling with. There is lots of space at Sale Water Park park and ride though it might be a bit sketchy late at night especially if your on your own. Getting the tram away from CoOp Live may be a long wait. There is also a P&R at Ashton but it seems small though at least you would be heading in the opposite direction to most people. The walk from the city center isn't the best area specially late at night. I have walked from the office by Piccadilly Station to the Etihad campus at lunchtime but would be wary in the dark and a colleague was mugged walking home along the canal after dark.

Where are you travelling from? I'm also going to the same concert but I can get the tram from home. I would suggest parking up at either an official metrolink car park on on-street parking near certain stops on the network.

If you do end up needing to walk from the concert into Manchester you certainly won't be the only one and you can walk along busy roads without needing to go the canal route. Appreciate the previous poster's point though.

A lot depends on where you're coming from really. I have got Ubers easily enough after concerts in the general area once the initial crowds have left
