UK break ideas for the Summer

Hi,

I have decided that rather than going abroad next Summer I'm going to take my children on a couple of UK breaks. I have no idea where to start looking though. I am a single mum, so it will be just me and my 2 boys (12 and 8). Theme parks won't work as my youngest doesn't like rides at all. We live in West Wales and am happy to drive, take the train or fly from Cardiff/Bristol. I'm thinking of a couple of breaks away, want it to be fun for them, and for possibly an educational element to it at some point. I'm happy to stay in a hotel or an airbnb. I don't want to go somewhere like Center Parcs, etc. (nothing against it, would just love to do something different).

Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions please?

Many thanks

The Jungle in Magherafelt (Northern Ireland) is great, you can stay in a cabin or glamping pod. It's got lots of different activities. Outdoor activities and events for corporate, school, youth groups, families

You could also look at getting something like an airbnb/ bed and breakfast in Jersey or Guernsey. Lots of options to do wild swimming, cycling etc.

Agree with the Northern Ireland idea mentioned above. Combine it with a stay in Belfast. The Titanic Museum, SS Nomadic and W5 are fantastic and there are lots of other kid friendly attractions too.

Northumberland and the NE coast are beautiful, and educational if they’re interested in the Romans (Hadrian’s Wall, etc). Lots to do in and around Newcastle too.

The Isle of Wight - so much to do there and lovely beaches if you want that too.

Thank you, will start looking at these suggestions. I do know that my eldest would love to visit the Titanic museum!

Edinburgh is a great city for kids - good museums, a castle right in the centre, a beach a couple of miles away, lots of parks and green space to let off steam. You could always combine a couple of days in the city with somewhere more rural. Flights from Bristol are probably cheaper than Cardiff which is a LoganAir route (and often cancelled from what I've heard!)
