Mums and daughter break Lake District

I am planning a short break (3-4 nights) with my 16 year old daughter when she finishes her GCSE’s next June. She loves the Lake District and is sporty so will be enthusiastic about walking and activities. I have looked at Another Place but I am concerned about the price versus mixed reviews regarding food/ tired accommodation. I am happy with this budget if it is value for money and the trip will be memorable. Does anyone have recommendations for special hotels which offer activities such as wild water swimming, kayaking etc suitable for a teen? I have ruled out a cottage as I would like a break from cooking!

Low Wood Bay run outdoor activities for guests. The restaurant Smoke On The Bay is 👌🏻

There's a company in Ambleside which runs outdoor swimming sessions.

Langdale Hotel is supposed to be quite nice.

Do you have Tesco clubcard? It's always worth checking if you can use your points on Hotels.com.

I would second Armanthwaite hall, we used to live fairly close to it. It's got a pool etc, a short walk to Bassenthwaite lake (if she's into wild swimming or paddle boarding) Tge food is a little expensive for what you get.

You are not too far from Bassenthwaite Lake Station, which is the train from Murder on the Orient Express, they do Breakfasts and lunch (you do need to book in the summer) or a short walk to Bassenthwaite Village gives you the Sun Inn, which is a fab pub with amazing homecooked food.

The bus stops just outside the hotel and you can get into Keswick and then change to explore the rest of the Lake District, well worth it if you can get a nice day and the open top bus.

Thank you all for your suggestions, both look lovely and could both fit the bill! I did look at package deals abroad like Neilsons but they are super expensive!

Neilsons is amazing though!! Well worth the money for the amount of activities on offer IMO. Although I go out of school holidays…..

The lake district is expensive. Coniston is nice, has great walks, massive 6 mile long "water" for various sporty stuff and gondola, short hop to Grasmere for gingerbread, not far from busier Windermere... I wouldn't swim in any of the large bodies of water tbh as instances of dangerous algae and sewage have become more prevalent but I can't resist a splash in a waterfall in hot weather!!

Low Wood at Christmas is gorgeous.... in fact the whole Lake District is 🌨️

Swim The Lakes are the comps y that @CurbsideProphet is referring to, who do guided swim-walks.

The Lancrigg Hotel in Grasmere is lovely, but you'd have to organise your own activities. They do a marvellous afternoon tea though!

We were at Low Wood last weekend, highly recommend Grin
