Where's a good place for a day trip by train from London - quirky shops, crafts, independent cafes etc, accessible by train? I've been to Brighton and Cambridge lots of times. Thanks

Rye, Folkestone and Margate are all places we've visited over the last year or so, which would fit your request.

Definitely recommend Rye.

@newyorkbreakfast The George in Rye (a beautiful old hotel) are doing a flash sale right now, for £99 a night. We took advantage of that in February this year. I know you were looking for a day trip but thought you might be tempted!

Salisbury?

CleanShirt · 18/10/2024 12:25

Whitstable!

Rye is gorgeous

Rye
if you're into Henry James or E F Benson you can visit Lamb House. Plus loads of interesting indie shops, a beautiful church, cobbled pretty streets of beautiful houses and some great places to eat and drink.

Oxford, maybe Moreton in Marsh (but much smaller!)

How about a day trip to Lille in France on Eurostar...go to old town loads of independent shops, bars and restaurants

Wivenhoe is Essex is a pretty riverside town - small but nice walks plus a few gallery's and cafes
