Best photo ID to carry instead of passport/driving licence?

My 18yo and I could both do with something to carry around within the UK so as not to risk losing our passports. For her, it's to be allowed into pubs etc which are restricted to age 18+. The YHA hostels we stay in insist on photo ID too. Last time I went to the theatre, they said the lead person on the booking had to show photo ID to prevent scalping. That sort of thing. It doesn't have to be good enough for banking - I don't mind taking my passport once in a while. Just something which most venues would be familiar with.

I know there are various ones you can use. What's widely accepted in pubs etc?

Thanks for any ideas!

At 18 i got my provisional driving license. It lasts 10 years. I never learnt how to drive because i didnt have enough money for all the lessons but it worked great for my id

Thanks! DD has epilepsy so isn't eligible for a provisional driving licence, but I could use one myself.

As a warning, although pubs, supermarkets etc are supposed to accept the Citizencard (with the PASS logo), I was rejected quite a few times because it wasn't a "passport or driver's licence" 🙄. If you do have issues escalate straight to management. (And report them to the local council/Licencing authority too for rejecting disabled people with valid ID..)
It's a Catch-22 situation as they're not very common. Needless to say I didn't renew mine in the end as it wasn't worth the hassle.

Thanks, that's what I'm a bit worried about. BTW this may amuse you:

I grew up in the US, in an area where few people could afford to travel abroad and very nearly everyone had a driving licence. Passports were unfamiliar to most bar staff, who usually assumed they were forgeries and demanded to see a driving licence instead. My one non-driving friend at uni had no end of hassle trying to use his passport as ID to get served in bars!
