10 days in Jersey - any recomendations?

Very excited, we've just booked 10 days hol in Jersey in June. We're going to be staying in ready erected tent at Blue Soliel - thought it would be a gentle intro to camping with two under 3. Have in mind to spend chilled out time on beaches and visit Durell zoo. What else is worth not missing in terms of things to go/see/things to do? Also any reccomendations on a restaurant front - would like to take advantage of fresh seafood being plentiful?! We're also thinking about taking bikes and trailer across to get around on, is it good for cycling? thanks

im not alot of use but just wanted to say how jelous i am!!
i love jersey and have been several times, mostly for the shopping, and took dd in october when she was 2.

the zoo is lovely as i am a durrell fan and have read most of his books.
there is loads to do and you will find information everywhere.

i am rubbish at naming places as my memory is terrible, but the jersey pottery has good food, also catherine best has some of the best food i have ever had.

there is a boat shaped restaurant on the sea front, (i cant even remember the main town name, its on the tip of my tongue) is specailises in seafood

hope you have a lovely time!

We went for a long weekend when DS was 4. The castle at St Helier was fantastic, you can walk out to it and when when the tide comes in you are cut off, you have to get the PUDDLEDUCK back (a boat on wheels, or floating bus) The castle has lots to climb about on, dungeons and dressed up soldiers actin the part. The beaches were a bit smelly though.

We went to Jersey two years ago kids are now 8 and 6. We went to a place called Amaizin Maze but as it was raining we didn't go into the actual maze (looked great though) there were also go carts to go on and playground for the kids. Also if I can remember right there were small animals to pet as well, think there was coffee shop etc would be nice place to take a picnic. We also loved St Brelade's beach it was really lovely, nice clean beach and lovely sand. If I can remember anymore will send another message hope this helps. Enjoy!

Another vote for St Brelade's beach. Absolutely beautiful, and you can park just across the road.

A day trip to France is really easy - our DS enjoyed the boat trip and we had a great time in St Malo.

Newme, hadn't occurred to me to do a day trip to France - interesting idea - mind you would mean getting organised on a passport front for the dc. Will have to mention to dh as would be nice to have the option.

Are you flying to Jersey? Just wondering if you'd need a passport for the DCs anyway? I know you don't need one per se, but you do need some sort of ID - or at least adults do! Stg you might want to check, if you are flying.

Twiga · 20/04/2008 22:08

We're going by ferry from Weymouth so ok on that front, in the past when flying with dd on internal flights we've just had her birth certificate with us as proof of id if needed. Thanks for the thought though .

Going to do day trip from France in August and can't wait!
Have loved the Channel Islands since watching Enemy at the Door many years ago!
