Trainline App

I bought train tickets via the Trainline website. I then received an email which says "Show your ticket on your phone at the platform gates, or show it to a ticket inspector when boarding."

I have the App and an account, but do not see where the tickets are. As far as I can see I still have to collect them from the station using the reference code.

Am I missing something. It's no big deal to collect the tickets, I'm just wondering why they are not on the App.

If you go onto the app and look at your booking the tickets should be there ?? Or have you brought actual physical tickets as opposed to e tickets?? Also check your booking email they might be attached to that

Just as an aside @CharlotteBog there are far better companies than trainline to book tickets for any future travel. Secondly, as others have said check the email confirmation for pdf's attached with your tickets on. If you have ticked collect at station, make sure you do as any inspections will be expecting to see physical tickets.

For e-tickets I always take the belt and brace option of having them on my phone and print a copy to cover all eventualities especially as mobiles can stop working.

No they are not on the App, I just have a booking reference. I guess that means I chose to buy actual tickets, rather than e tickets. I don't recall choosing though,

[pause to recreate what I did]
OK, so while I do have a Trainline account (I am logged in as me on the App), I didn't log in on the website (because I couldn't be bothered to find my password) and I think when you checkout as a guest you only have the option to collect the tickets at the station. That would make sense.

They are not attached to my confirmation email, but I have the ticket reference to enter into the ticket machine to collect them. It's fine, I've done that before, I was just wondering why I can't see them in the App (like what their email says!).

I don't travel by train a great deal. Which companies are better? Thanks.

@CharlotteBog Trainline get pretty bad press, have a look on Railforums, they have their own equivalent of Trainline, or book direct with the train operators.

Trainline is pretty good. It works our split saver tickets, and hosts your railcard.

During the booking process, you usually get the option of etickets or printed tickets. Occasionally, etickets are not available, in which case you have to use the booking reference and insert a debit card.

Etickets are stored in the app and can be emailed to you.
