Belfast - where to stay?

Will be coming in from Belfast International late Thursday in November. Staying 3 nights so two full days. Cabin baggage only and will be going straight to airport on departure day.

Titanic stuff one day etc.

Queens quarter?
City centre?
Cathedral quarter?
Elsewhere?

I want I feel safe at night with my 11yo but happy to walk or bus etc during day.

South Belfast native here!

Belfast is very small - everything is within easy walking distance so really you could stay anywhere in the city and never need to use any public transport or taxis. My personal favourite hotels are Bullitt and Grand Central (although this is a bit more pricey). They are both in the city centre. Haven’t got round to trying it yet as they only just opened last year but Room 2 is also very central, a few friends have visited and said it’s fantastic.

@HighlandCow78 thank you I will check these out!

Belfast is actually really safe and easy to get around. I have lots of recommendations but whats your rough budget and anything that's particularly important?

hopeishere · 19/08/2024 20:34

Room 2 is new and is meant to be very nice.

provemewrongthen · 19/08/2024 20:39

@Dumptytree I'm usually a Premier Inn budget. It can stretch a little as flights have come in cheap.

Probably around £150 a night. Don't necessarily need breakfast included or anything.

Bullitt didn't have my dates.

We stayed in The Clayton which was well
located and good quality and value

Travel to Belfast for work and it's a lovely city to go to.
Titanic museum is definately worth it, there's a Premier Inn just around the corner.
The Europa hotel is also very good with a really interesting history.
Did flights work out best for International rather than George Best?

DinaofCloud9 · 19/08/2024 20:44

We stayed in a jury's Inn a few years ago. It was nice and in a easy location for travelling round.

Carelesswispalover · 19/08/2024 20:44

I second room 2, hotels in Belfast are so expensive especially on Saturday nights, it's actually ridiculous.
Ac Marriott is also nice, hopefully it you're going mid week you can get a deal.

Try the Malone in Queens quarter. Obviously it’s near the uni but not particularly student-y and the area is lovely with gorgeous architecture, the botanic garden and the botanic area which has lots of nice pubs and restaurants. Loads of buses into city of centre or it’s about a 25 min walk. Hotel has lovely staff ….. it’s a little faded grandeur in places but good value I think.

I'm flying from Birmingham on EasyJet and it only goes to international. That's fine, I'm happy to do that and will give us time to get there.

We stayed in the Premier Inn in the Titanic Quarter en route to a family event in Fermanagh. Went for a walk after dinner at 9.30/10.00pm ish with our kids (6 & 9) and felt perfectly safe. They liked seeing the sculptures lit up in the dark.

The cathedral quarter is basically the city centre, just the northern edge of it. I really like the vibe there.

Not somewhere I’d be particularly happy to walk with an 11 year old at night though!
