Welsh hotel/pub/B&B recommendations?

Does anyone have any little gems they'd like to share?

DH and I are planning a trip to Wales for our 20th wedding anniversary. A mid-week break near the end September.

We are going to do the zipline at Penrhyn Quarry as DH has a voucher for it.

We don't need to stay near the quarry, we'll have a car and I'd love to find a real gem for a couple of nights. We love cosy welcoming places with good food. Good walks (beach, mountain, forests). I'm a fan of mooching around places with independent shops and coming home with new art prints and ceramics.

We have never been to Wales and don't know where to start!

There are some stunning beach/forest walls nearby at Newborough.

Thank you @countdowntonap I actually follow an art gallery on Instagram based in Beaumaris and it would be fab to visit in person.

Conwy, Llandudno or any of the Llyn Peninsular
Wales is fantastic, cant go wrong really, start at Liverpool, do the Wirral then work your way through Wales, you won't be disappointed.

The Abergavenny food festival is in late September if you like that sort of thing.

Not sure of your budget... but Chateau Rhianfa is near Menai Bridge. Even if you just do afternoon tea (lovely room and sandwiches). Not stayed myself, so read reviews first. Not far from Tregarth for the zipwire, but allow more time as both bridges get congested

You cant go wrong in North Wales, so diverse, Mountains Sea etc it has it all, you can be as quiet or as busy as you like.
You might like Llangollen, Bala and Barmouth?
You will need to stay longer!

If you wanted to make two centres of it, Checkers in Montgomery is an excellent restaurant with rooms. Montgomery itself is an interesting little town.

There's the Oriel Davies Gallery in Newtown not far away.

Be careful of some of these suggestions OP- Some are very far from Bethesda and the zip wire, and the roads are lovely but slow so you don't want to be in the car for too long!

Caernarfon is a lovely town, and you'll get the lovely experience of hearing Welsh spoken- Really reminds you that you're in a different country with a separate culture. The Celtic Royal hotel there is quite nice. Chateau Rhianfa is absolutely lovely, but quite expensive. The Black Boy Hotel in Caernarfon is lower budget, and is a lovely pub in the centre of town, and you can drive to so many places from there.

Just remembered, there is a really friendly B&B in Tregarth, very near the zip-wire. Converted chapel - Pant Teg. There is not much else in Tregarth, apart from the zip-wire, but it would allow for an early slot.
