Struggling to find what I'm looking for. My DD and partner early 20s are looking for a few days away in the lakes. They would like a hot tub and walking distance to a few pubs and restaurants. Has anyone any recommendations?

Ullswater Heights is lovely. But you probably do need a car.

They have a car but don't want to drive on an evening.

I've stayed in some wonderful places in the Lakes, but I think you'll struggle for a hot tub outside of one of the compexes.

That's exactly what I'm struggling with, I'm hoping someone has found a hidden gem.

Ambleside good for access to a few restaurants and pubs on foot.

Appleby is a nice little town which has a few pubs - you could check this area and if they have a car it is within easy reach of Lake Ullswater. Pooley Bridge, Glenridding and Patterdale are on the shores of Lake Ullswater and each have a few pubs/hotels. Also, look at villages that are based along the bottom of the Pennines for example Armathwaite, Kirkoswald, Langwathby along to Appleby - as a lot of these villages have nice pubs and there are quite a few holiday lets with hot tubs fitted about but these aren’t party central. If they want somewhere more bustling then I would say Ambleside, Windermere. Grasmere is a lovely little village with a few hotels that have hot tubs and plenty of places to eat. Obviously just avoid school holidays as it gets really busy.

There are quite a few lets with hot tubs outside of big holiday sites. When on Air BnB, Rural Retreats, Sally’s Cottages, Cottages.com and when searching tick the box for hot tub.

Fallbarrow is perfect, lovely lodges right in the centre of Bowness. It is a complex but there's no entertainment venue, just a restaurant and shop. We go every year.

I stayed in a place in Grasmere a few years ago that had a hot tub shared amongst a couple of rooms. It was a mezzanine floor with bed on and downstairs was bathroom and a lounge-type area

Grasmere/ambleside is the place. There’ll be hot tubs too
