London restaurant recommendations

Hi all. Looking for your brilliant advice if poss. I am 50 in Feb and trying to plan a nice couple of days in London to celebrate with the family. I have two teens, 16 and 13 who have strong opinions on things! I would really love any restaurant ideas please ie somewhere special but not too unusual food/ ingredients. The problem I am having is that when I look at the menus for eg Hakkasan or Tom Kerridge it is all a bit too foodie for DC. I wondered about Simpson on the Strand but it seems to have closed!
Also I was going to book Cirque de Soleil but any other recommended activities or shows would be gratefully received. I am prepared to chuck some money at this! Thank you 🤩

The wolseley?

Bob Bob Ricard. It does posh comfort food but is very over top decoration with a champagne bell at each table. Really lovely place!

Agree with the suggestions above.

If they like steak, Hawksmoor?

One of the posh modern Indian places? Gymkhana, Chutney Mary, Cinnamon Club?

Duck and Waffle is fun and lots on the menu anyone would want to eat (much less of a treat food wise but it is a destination kind of place with the view).

Italian might work? Murano, Locanda Locatelli? Brutto?

Totally different but we had a lovely family dinner at Fallow and there was lots my daughter liked. Small plates are less high risk in terms of people being able to try various things.

Darwin Brasserie in the Sky Garden has fairly mainstream food - burger, pulled pork, roast chicken, Caesar salad etc....

I adore Rules. If child has any interest in history at all, Rules is the one.

Some excellent suggestions already! A few others to consider include the Ivy (original ideally), Brasserie Zedel or at least the American bar for cocktails, Skylon or OXO Tower for river views. Have fun!

Would they/you enjoy Tea at the Ritz?

In that kind of situation, i opt for a The Swan at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre.

Fairly normal food done well with good quality ingredients.

Beautiful view too so feels like an occasion.

Like Hawksmoor too. Also Salvador and Amanda in Soho, tapas (possibly look at the pre-theatre packages, they're fun). Time Out also has offers for menus and sent a mail round recently with places like Quaglino's etc: London Deals & Offers Exclusive to Time Out

My Old Dutch is worth a look. Very imaginative pancake meals, and very filling. There's one on Kensington Church Street and another on New Oxford Street (I think) in between Holborn and Tottenham Court Road tube stations (also not that far from Covent Garden).
