from victoria - victoria line to finsbury park then W7 bus to Crouch End. W7 bus goes from back of finsbury park station - on a good day about 10 mins.

Mercy · 15/04/2008 11:42

Victoria line to Finsbury Park, cross the platform and get on the Piccadilly line to Turnpike Lane, there is a bus stop right outside which will take you to Crouch End.

dinny · 15/04/2008 11:43

thanks Essie

how long does the Tibe talk from Vict to FP ish?

and (God, this is a crap question) can you still pay with money on the bus?

pmsl, can you tell I don't live in London any more?

ooops, I've never heard of the W7!

Victoria to Finsbury Park 15 or 20 minutes.

theyoungvisiter · 15/04/2008 12:01

The W7 doesn't take money on the bus but you can buy a ticket with cash from the ticket machines on the bus platform.

There are two exits to Finsbury park tube - take the one marked Wells Terrace. The other side also has a bus station but with buses going south - it is very confusing!

Agree that Victoria to Fins Park is about 20 mins and no changes - very easy journey.

(BTW W7 is much easier than going via Turnpike lane!)

dinny · 15/04/2008 12:04

Wonder if would be better driving up via West London and across.....

hmm, probably no quicker but might be easier than tube, especially with the kids.

There's no controlled parkign in Crouch End itself so if you'd probably be fine parking.

should add - also have to drive three miles to railway station, park and get train for 45 mins before getting on Tube

might as well drive whole way?

coming from Surrey, if you know North London well enough to navigate from the North circular down to Crouch End then I'd say drive. It's what I'd do.

But the vict line/bus is totally doable and I'm sure you'd be fine. I've done it with the buggy numerous times.

elkiedee · 02/05/2008 20:59

Buy train tickets if you come that way from Surrey which include travel cards - it's likely to save you money (especially if this is a day trip) and will certainly save hassle.

QueenGina · 02/05/2008 22:27

North Circular can be a complete nightmare!
so thin carefully before driving. Tube to Finsbury Park and W7 is very easy and there is always a W7 at Finsbury Park tube waiting and ready to take people up to crouch end.

only thing is, you might want to check that Victoria Line is running properly when you want to travel. Last time a friend came to visit, she said it was out of service for works or something like that??

MarsLady · 02/05/2008 22:33

Which part of Crouch End?

ok Dinny. DD1 takes the tube to and from Victoria daily (and I'm no stranger to the route). Stay AWAY from Turnpike Lane (sorry Mercy). Finsbury Park then the W7 but if you tell me which part of Crouch End it would help because you might actually need the W3.

pofaced · 02/05/2008 22:38

Which part of Crouch End very important: W3 (or 5?!) goes a slightly different route and better for Hornsey Vale (Ridge/Nelson/Inderwick/ Mayfield/ Uplands Rds/ Weston park. Same bus station as w7 and same buying ticket in advance though. Driving from Surrey can be PITA with Thames crossings etc

dinny · 03/05/2008 11:10

hello, I did drive in the end via the Westway as it's the route I know and it took ages, 1 hr 45 each way. so will get tube next time!

the bit of Crouch end it is, well it isn't Crouch End proper, it is near the Hornsey (?) Road, sort of over the hill from CE

will deffo pop in for LDC Mars! Are there any good baby groups etc round there?
