Any recommendations what to do? It will be following the horrible histories boat tour on the thames by tower bridge. Preferably nothing you have to pay for as it already follows a big weekend of paid activities!! We have done the history and science/transport museum so not these please.

All of these are free:

Suggest you try London Zoo, Regents Park (on N. Line tube)
Where you might find an interesting production at the Open Air Theatre. But sorry, it might cost. Could also be children's activities on the Serpentine in Hyde Park. Suggest phone Police non-emergency no, 101, to ask about children's playgrounds/areas, could help.

You could get on the Docklands light railway and visit the Museum of London in the Docklands.
If you receive certain benefits like universal credit, you can visit the Tower of London for £1.

Really?? The OP is asking for free things and you are suggesting a £60 trip to London Zoo and calling the Police to ask about playgrounds.

WTAF 😂

The Big Museums in South Ken. The Natural History Museum is good if your son likes Dinosaurs, and the Science museum is good for lots of things like Space. I also like the British Museum for the Egyptian stuff, but go to the Asian Galleries which are superb. My DD is nearly 18 and lived in London all her life, she's liked these museums since she was small.

The sky garden is a short walk from the tower. Or just hop on a number 15 bus and sit upstairs, it's a good route with lots to see ending up on the strand so can then go in to Covent Garden to see the buskers or Trafalgar Square then walk over tp see the outside of Buckingham palace and then a rest in st James park.

British Museum is free and has amazing trails for children (just ask at the family desk).
Lots of free kids stuff at the South Bank.
Tate Modern free activity The Floating World where you paint in the Turbine Hall.
Running about in Kings Cross fountains and then an ice cream at Ruby Violet
if you’re on Instagram Bablands and Museum Mum share good ideas.

Museum of London at Docklands, Childrens V and A, walk aling South Bank to Tate Modern and Southbank centre.

Sorry, l used to live in London but now live in Cornwall & didn't realise London Zoo is so expensive, used to be free. A friend in the Met says police are good for children's play areas which are well known to them when observing for paedophiles! Was only trying to help.

I would walk along the South Bank. There is a sand pit and normally a few street performers and things going on. You can see Big Ben and the London Eye plus there is a playground close to there too. Might be too similar to the sights from the Horrible History boat though (which is a good show as we did it last year) .
