Any thoughts on where to go in this area. 5 adults and a dog

Walks experiences and must try eateries!

I love the beach at Abersoch.
Lovely long beach for walking on even if not nice weather, but plenty of room to spend the day there if weather is nice.

Llanbedrog is a sandy beach with views over Cardigan Bay. There’s a network of paths through woodland and heathland areas surrounding the beach.
Porth y Swnt visitor centre is pretty interesting. There are also bike trails nearby and the coastal footpath takes you to Porth Meudwy.
Ty Coch Inn at Porthdinllaen is a really nice place to eat.
Seals are fairly common at Porthor and you may even spot a dolphin.

Firstly check each beach before you go as some are not allowing dogs in the summer.
Criccieth is like stepping back in time in a good way traditional unspoilt. Llanbedrog as mentioned is great, nice Cafe on the beach and toilets nearby.
Ty Coch is a must do , Park on National trust or Golf club carpark its £5, nice 20 minute walk to the pub and beach, small range of good food, its not cheap but a great place.
Best eatery is Cafe Largo in Pwllheli fantastic food, cake, breakfast is great try the Glamorgan sausage.

Abersoch I feel is overrated, many of the shops and cafe's no longer allow dogs in, Park on the Golf club carpark and a short walk to the beach.
Whistling sands has a cafe on the beach This small, picturesque National Trust beach, backed by steep grassy cliffs, is on the Llŷn Heritage Coast. It’s famously known as ‘Whistling Sands’, a nickname based on the sound the granules make underfoot when you walk over its gleaming sand. The sound is created due to the shear stress of weight that is put upon the sand, there are only two beaches in the whole of Europe where you can experience this for yourselves.
Hells mouth is a lovely but empty beach no toilets shop etc
Some walks here

Absolutely stunning beaches ⛱️ I miss Wales. Haven't been there in years😪

Funf · 02/08/2024 07:30

Remember you can drive south and visit Harlech, nice small village, castle very good ice cream
Then on to Barmouth a traditional small seaside town with a nice large beach but more commercialised.

It took us a few years but I think we have visited every beach. Still some very quiet ones

Breathtakingly beautiful 😍 thank you for posting this. I am in Scotland, but look forward to planning a holiday in Wales over the next few years. Such a very welcoming place when I have been there in the past😊

Harlech has a 5 mile beach with unspoilt sand dunes. You can see Snowdon to the right and the 12th century castle behind you. There's nowhere like it IMHO. Beautiful village. Great ice cream shop/deli too. From the castle you see Portmeirion.

I'm looking forward to the trip thank you
