Adult break end august north west or 3 max from Manchester

I have a week free at the end of august and I'm looking for a nice trip for 2 adults.

3 hrs max from Manchester
2/4 nights
Love the seaside but not essential
Not Anglesey or Chester
Maybe split the days over 2 hotels in different locations

Looking for either:
A gastro pub with rooms
A luxury adult glamping site
A hotel or B&B that feels a bit special
Possible SC if it was near good options and a bit special

Budget max £150 per night but ideally less

Does anyone have any gems?
I was thinking Whitby as I've never been but not sure if there is enough to do.

We had a great week in Pickering a few years ago. Stayed at Bramwood B&B. Has North York Moors Railway, easy drives to North York Moors countryside, Whitby, Scarborough, Rievaulx Abbey, charming villages all around.

Portmeirion is lovely.

Harrogate is lovely, with lots of nice bars and restaurant's, and not as expensive as York, but you can easily get the train into York for a day out there too. Hardwicke Hall is close by as is lots of lovely country walks, country pubs etc if you'd prefer a bit of nature on one of your days.

I came on to suggest Whitby. We live in Manchester and it's one of our favourite trips. It's a three hour trek mind you but the last section is lovely over the moors. There's plenty of pubs and restaurants in Whitby. You can do a great hike along the cliffs to Robin Hoods Bay which is also lovely. And visit Staithes which has wonderful views.

@BuggeryBumFlaps ah great idea re getting the train over thank you!

@Hobbesmanc thank you I will investigate more then!

@Poisoningpigeons I was there a couple of months ago, absolutely stunning! We had a beautiful lunch in the castle and our entrance ticket was included!

@ShrubRose I'll have a look at Pickering

Northumberland is beautiful - Bamburgh, Alnmouth area (but I'm a big beach fan and they're lovely up that coast!)

Look up the White Horse and Griffin. Ancient old coaching inn in the heart of old Whitby near the abbey steps. Lovely old rooms, awesome breakfast (try the famous Whitby kippers). There's a restaurant too which is really popular. And of course make sure you book the Magpie. Reputed to be the worlds best fish and chips.

Love that stretch of coastline. And Holy Island

I always think places like that are haunted 😳
