Caravans park in Norfolk

Looking to go away with my mum, husband and son in September for a long weekend. DS is 3, so anything with entertainment/arcades/ playground/beach nearby is perfect. We can drive anywhere nearby. What is the best caravan park you've stayed in recently? Anything from Hunstanton, Cromer, great Yarmouth and anywhere in between!!

We are doing a southeast coast tour at the moment in the camper. We have just stayed at the Park Dean heacham for two (next to Hunstanton) nights to refresh and it was lovely. Had a platinum caravan with decking.

Not stayed there myself but Pinewoods at Holkham is nice. Beautiful beach too.

We just came back from a 3 night break at the Caister-On-Sea Haven. The park is right on the beach and the facilities were clean with lots to do. It's about a 20 minute drive into Great Yarmouth.

Another vote for Haven Caister on Sea. It’s got everything you need and isn’t too far from Bewilderwood, which was our main reason for staying in the area.

Searles. It has a great indoor splash pool for younger children and a small soft play. You can also pay extra for a hot tub.

I've just got back from caister on sea caravan was awful! Site was ok really good park for children they have a soft play also, just don't use the chippy 🤢 never had chips that bad! It is right on the beach tho just pass the smelly bins onto the most dismal bit of beach, if your lucky the benches thoughtfully positioned next to said bins will be vacant 😝. Great Yarmouth was beyond awful apart from the old fashioned bit near the pleasure beach. Gorleston was nice Cromer was lovely and Sherringham was nice would have been better if we hadn't gone when some weird festival was on, everywhere you turned Morris dancers were dancing around and those bells they wear it was all I could hear all day!! Plus it pissed it down!! I found the sea quite rough for the kids but this could have been down to the windy weather the best beach is probably gorleston ( when you find it ) if you walk along towards the beach huts the sea comes in further so it isn't such a trek.

Haven Caister is the best in terms of having the nicest beach - sandy and vast and direct access from the park itself. Seashore is the closest to Yarmouth but the beach isn’t as good - it’s better to stay at Caister and drive the 5 mins down the road to Yarmouth. Hopton and Wild Duck are smaller and quieter, we didn’t rate them as much.

Meant to say if you stay at Caister (we’ve stayed there nearly every year for the last 10 years) don’t get the fish and chips on site, not good and very overpriced, go to Doggers Plaice just outside the park. The Smokehouse at Ormesby and Planet Spice just up the road are amazing places to eat out too.

Another vote for Searles.

Someone above mentioned Pinewoods, Wells-next-the-Sea. That does have some really nice caravans and it is literally right on the beach (which is massive).

There is also a play area and everything was very clean. Do be aware that they do allow dogs in certain caravans so you will see dogs (on leads though) around the site and there is also an area of the beach where dogs are allowed.

The actual town of Wells-next-the-Sea is a little walk away but there is an electric bus that just shuttles back and forward between the beach and the town.

They used to have a miniature railway going to the beach but that closed down about three years ago. There is still one running between Wells and Walsingham though with open top carriages.

In the town itself there's a small amusement arcade and fish and chip shops etc. Further afield there is Holkham Hall where there is a deer park to visit.

Wells-next-the-sea is fab, with the pine forest and sand dunes and beach huts. The tide does go out really far and you have to wade through mud to get to it, but most of the Norfolk beaches are like that to be fair...

Thanks! I had a look at Parkdean and quite liked it - only the Stork caravans are available at the moment. What were the facilities like for the kids?

Thanks everyone, all really helpful!

Looks like I need to look at Searles, Pinewoods at Wells-next-the-sea, and Caister-on-sea. Will take a nosey at all of them! Thank you!!

We're off to Haven Hopton at the weekend, we went last year and really enjoyed it. Fairly quiet park which is what we like, they do have a pool, arcades, activities etc but definitely more low key than places like centre parks or Butlins.

We get a Gold Caravan a bit further away from the main activities and next to a play area so DD can run out and play while we sit on the porch or shelter from the inevitable rainy spells in the living room.

Littletinytarzanswingingfromanosehair · 09/07/2024 21:35

The Hunstanton one had a arcade and indoor swimming pool. Very small like but would be ok for younger children. Location wise for the beach, this was perfect. There is a parkdean at kessingland and one at Lowestoft which we are next to xx
