A week in Somerset

Hello we are staying with relatives for a week in Somerset in a village near Glastonbury.

Can anyone local recommend activities younger kids would like? They're 4 and 6. They tend to love play parks, swimming, soft play, some museums, bike rides, scooter etc

Also any nice pubs with play equipment in the garden?!

Already got Wookey Hole on the list - will be good nostalgia as I went there on a school trip in the early 90s!

Puxton park

Fleet air museum.
wookey hole (though I think it’s terribly over priced) and prefer cheddar gorge.
RSPB ham wall if they like nature, I think kids can do pond dipping there?
There is a big play park in Glastonbury also Glastonbury Abbey sometimes has things going on for kids including outdoor theatre productions.

If it’s fine, Greenbank pool in Street is lovely https://www.greenbankpool.co.uk

Clark’s Village outlet shopping centre just over the road is open air and has quite a good playground for kids that age.

Greenbank Outdoor Swimming Pool - In The Heart Of Street

Our fabulous 100 feet (30 metres) outdoor pool is heated to 30C in the main pool and 32C in the children’s pool.

Weston Super Mare for the helicopter museum .
The pier, ice cream , ferris wheel, amusement arcades and the beach.

Rural Living Museum in Glastonbury is great.
Definitely go up the Tor.
Loads of brilliant nature walks on the levels.
Taunton is nice to come to for a day - a museum, shops, a lovely town park with a big play area (Vivary) and food/drink.

Clarks Village has a great play area and some lovely shops. The Somerset Museum of Rural Life is great for all ages. That's in Glastonbury

Mendip activity centre for tobogganing!

The soft play in cheddar is amazing!

Not my usual name as this is outing…

Parts of the Strawberry Line are open for cycling and scooting but if you’re on the Levels it’s just as easy to stay on the lanes.

IMO Safari Tots is an excellent soft play and not as expensive as Cheddar but my children are a little younger. Croscombe has a great park and it’s nearly always empty.

Agree that Wookey Hole Caves are very expensive (but the pub is nice, also lots of walking from the village). I live in Wookey Hole.

Fleet and Haynes are both great. If you’re NT members then Montacute over Lytes Cary. Somerset Rural Life Museum in Glastonbury is fab and they often have stuff on in the holidays. We go to the Bishops Palace in Wells a lot but may not be worth it as a one off (tickets are returning type ones).

Which village?

For some inexplicable reason my children LOVED Brean Leisure Park at that age. The eldest is now 23, youngest is 17, and they all still talk about it in awe.

If you don't mind an hour's drive, Dunster Castle is beautiful and has lovely gardens, and a working flour mill.

Lots to investigate here, thanks very much to all! Looking forward to it more now!
