Hello!

Going to Liverpool for a few days with 3 teens/young adults

Any tips on places to visit? I know it's a random choice of holiday, but DS2 chose it...

Recommended restaurants?
Places to shop?
Sport places to visit?

We will have a car with us, so happy to drive to get somewhere

Thanks!

Depends what they like doing!

LFC's stadium at Anfield do tours.

Tons of museums and art galleries around if they like that sort of thing. The best areas for these are the Albert Dock/Pier Head area where there is the Mersey ferry terminus, Museum of Liverpool, Maritime Museum, International Slavery Museum, Beatles museum...Tate art gallery is closed for renovations but they have a mini version up in the RIBA building I believe. Little touristy shops around the Albert Dock and restaurants, Maray and Lunya are pretty popular, Reubens is good for lunches/coffee/pancakes. There is a Pizza Express nearby too and the big Ferris wheel which gives amazing views.

St. George's plateau area also has beautiful architecture and there you have the World Museum, Walker Art Gallery, Central Library and St. John's Gardens all together too.

Bold Street is full of great independent restaurants. Likewise Allerton Road and Lark Lane in South Liverpool.

Other museum/stately home type things out of town are Sudley House, and Speke Hall, both in South Liverpool.

Forgot shopping - Liverpool One is the main place for this.

Hi just want to highly recommend the LFC stadium tour, I reluctantly did it recently with my sons.
I’m not really interested in football so was very surprised how much I enjoyed it.
Lots of things to do in Liverpool, depends on your interests but I would recommend a trip on the Mersey Ferry.

Bold street for food 😋
Mowgli, Bunderbust, Bakchich, Rudys…..to name a few
get the train to st micheals….2 stops and visit Sefton park and eat in Lark Lane …..one of my favourite things to do!

Liverpool is excellent for a visit!

There's a brilliant crazy golf junkyard gold or Golf Fang - I think kids can only go in during the day though.

We enjoyed the tunnel tour...if you've got kids who might like that. https://williamsontunnels.com/visit-the-tunnels/

The war rooms are good too.

I asked the same question early last year and had fantastic suggestions. In fact, I loved Liverpool so much that I went again last month!

I can't find a link but if you search 'Liverpool' you should find my post.

Oh you lot are amazing!

We're pretty flexible on what we'd like to do - all love food, and DS2 in particular likes quirky one off places.

DS1 is bringing his GF, they'd probably like shopping, nice restaurants for evening, bars etc. They also both like a bit of sight seeing and up for fun of crazy golf etc

DS2 loves history, food (his favourite!) and football!

On a recent trip I enjoyed
open top bus tour
Ferry across the Mersey
Port Sunlight including the art gallery
The Cavern Club - live music, food, drinks, great memorabilia and friendly atmosphere.

We really liked Duke Street market for food - not cheap but good.

The views from Liverpool Anglican Cathedral are incredible and the place itself is worth a visit as is the catholic cathedral. The Philarmonic Pub up that way is a great classic Victorian boozer with amazing gent's loos.

We regret not going to see the red squirrels in Formby. In fact, thinking we might go back this year just for that.

The Antony Gormley sculptures on Crosby beach are a nice visit out from Liverpool.

BananaLambo · 28/06/2024 14:22

Definitely recommend Another Place, the Gormley Iron Men statues on Crosby beach about 12 miles away). I came upon it by chance and it was the strangest and most incredible thing. It’s 100 iron statues facing out to see. They’re posted along the beach - some are half buried in sand, some are under water and only visible when they tide is out, some are just standing there. I didn’t know what I was supposed to be looking at so I just thought it was a normal beach before realising that everyone was standing still - and that they were statues. Amazing! If you do go, don’t tell anyone what it is, just that you’re going to the beach. Go for a picnic one evening - they’re quite incredible then. I’ve since gone back 4-5 times just to enjoy them, and I live over 200 miles away.
