Hi mums,

We’re looking for recommendations to take our toddler (2.5 years old) away somewhere in the UK by the seaside. Would love for it to be somewhere with sandy beaches and lots to keep a toddler occupied! Potentially with indoor options too if the weather isn’t great.

We also have a 7 month old so will need to be pushing a pram around. We live in the south.

Grateful for any recommendations 🙏

Paignton/Torquay would be a good break as there’s a choice of sandy beaches and easily enough to do to fill a week. My toddler enjoyed the zoo, model village, steam train, and lots of the amusements/rides on the pier. We also spent a lot of time at the free Geoplay Park which had one of the best toddlers play areas we’ve been to. There were donkey rides on the green behind the beach at Paignton Sands. In Torquay, there’s an indoor pool with toddler splash area and wave pool.

Weymouth

Check the sewage reports and avoid the brown turd flagged beaches.

Be careful in if you go to Weymouth with your toddler. They allow the horses access to the esplanade and beaches in the morning and evening. It looks lovely to see them but the problem is they are allowed to drop 'horse dung' and not clear after them. This can be difficult when a toddler falls into it.

We went to South Shields and it was surprisingly good, was a cheap last minute Airbnb option. Everything in walking distance Including beach/arcades/fairground/park with train/lake and sand pit/ pool with slides that was cheap as run by local council.

Think there was also a mini golf. Far exceeded our expectations and was cheap as chips. Didn't drive the whole time just took the pram

How about Pembrokeshire? Beautiful and easier to get to than Cornwall!

Or North Yorkshire around Scarborough is beautiful
