A chalet/house right on the beach?

I’m looking to stay in a small house or chalet (ideally not a caravan) that is right on the beach - so that you step out into the beach from the front door. I’ve seen so many overseas, that the suggestions that are coming back on different accommodation sites are skewed towards properties in the US or even further.

I’m only looking to rent for 2-3 nights, it would have to be in the south east and ideally two bedrooms but one would be ok. Basic cooking facilities and a bathroom needed too.

It’s for me and 12yo Ds2. He has ASD and learning disabilities, and I know that’s he’d love this kind of holiday with the excitement and freedom the beach would bring. We’ve done many beach type holidays but it’s the literally on the beach accommodation that I’m looking for.

If anyone knows of bigger properties, I’d definitely consider those as then we could take Ds1 and DH too.

They have some at Camber Sands.

Wow, this would be absolutely perfect but for the beach being pebbly. DS would only appreciate a sandy beach. Sorry, I should have said.

I did wonder…

Thank you. I’ve looked at the houses that sleep 10-12 are in an absolutely perfect location, but are really pricey given that they’re a holiday for 10-12. Beautiful though, and tick every box. The one that sleeps six is onto sand dunes so unable to walk directly into the sand and the expanse of beach.

I know I’m being fussy. But I also know Ds2 and what he’d expect!

This is too far, unfortunately. I need somewhere in the south east.

Thank you, this has potential. I can only see seven night minimum stays during school
holidays though / hardly any availability which shows that it is popular! I will bear this in mind.

I reckon if you do an air b and b search and spend a bit of time looking you will find somewhere. Good luck

Lyme Regis has one I think, though it would not let for 2 nights in the Summer.

Winterton-on-Sea - the Hermanus village of little round houses. Haven't stayed there yet but plan to one day. There are regularly seals in the sea in the p.m. as well, they pop their heads up unexpectedly and quite close to the shore.

We have recently been to Lyme Regis and only a small part of the beach is sandy. The rest is pebbly as are most around that coast up til Exmouth. I had underestimated how much that would matter to the DC but it really did

There's a fair few in Whitstable like this on Air BnB.

Walcott, Norfolk.

My dad lives in a place like this, California, and is obsessed with keeping sand of his precious floors.

I seem to recall seeing a lovely one on Canopy and Stars. Try there.
