Late teens and dog low key family holiday

Our two are both late teens and both now away at Uni. They missed out on our last main family holiday abroad due to covid/lockdown when we decided to cancel.

We went to Scotland for a week in August last year which they seemed to enjoy. I think maybe to delay getting a summer job they have both decided they want to come on holiday with us again this summer but they won’t be home from Uni until almost the end of June and all the kennels near us are full. So anywhere we go we would have to take one old well behaved dog.

Any top tips where to go where they won’t be too bored, which won’t cost the earth and the dog can come too. Scotland, north, north east and north west. Just need a nice pub, restaurant and a little shop within walking distance and ideally a beach or a flat dog walk on the door step as the dog is old now.

Hit me with suggestions of a place/area and ideally three bedded accommodation suggestions for a week or a long weekend that doesn’t smell of dog and doesn’t cost the earth.

Thanks

We've found the lakes brilliant for the dog, as everywhere is dog friendly so you can take them into cafes and pubs etc ...

Also NOrthumberland, miles of beaches, dog friendly pubs, interesting stuff to do.

We've also done AirBand b in Berwick with dogs, great little town and near interesting stuff.

I second Northumberland - very dog friendly, gorgeous beaches.

When is the earliest you can go?

Try the Ayrshire coast - the west coast of Scotland that the American tourists thankfully don't seem to have discovered yet!

Northumberland again. Very relaxed and good for all ages and dogs!

Air b n b in Seahouses, Northumberland. We go every year with teenage kids and dog x

Another vote for Northumberland.

If you want Scotland then Arran is always worth a visit and if you fancy the drive, Ardnamurchan is lovely.

Thanks can only go end of June or mid to late Aug/early Sept.

Any recommendations for accommodation need three bedrooms.

We’ve booked several nice places on AirBnB, so worth having a look. Do you want to be rural or in a town / village?

Northumberland, ddog was welcomed everywhere. Hexham was a lovely base

We have two dogs and if they won't let them in we don't go.
North Wales is fantastic, plenty to see and do lots of cheap stuff too, we have found all areas with the exception of Abersoch very dog friendly, no idea why it's different?
The Llyn Peninsular is stunning as is Harlech, Llanbedrog, Criccieth.
A few ideas here

This should be added to the bucket list, the Telegraph rated it as in the top 10 beach bars in the world.

Early September as soon as the schools go back the weather is still good and its cheaper.
Would you stay in a tent?
This place has the tent all ready for you its next to the beach, great people too.
