Long story short - we were supposed to be travelling to the EU tomorrow with son (nearly 6), however, I'm an idiot and forgot to check that his UK passport had 3 months of validity, which it doesn't.

I'm now frantic and want to book a substitute break in the UK for a few days to try and manage the disappointment. We had planned to go to Phantasialand in Germany (huge theme park) and I'd promised him some outdoor swimming (totally aware that I'm unlikely to get that here in the UK!).

Is there anywhere you'd recommend, or anywhere you absolutely would not consider? I've looked at Legoland Windsor, but the reviews don't look great. We're in the north, but happy to drive anywhere.

Thanks so much in advance guys. 😢

Not necessarily a great help but last year I met up with a friend near Betws y Coed and friend had a go at wild swimming in Fairy Glen.
It's a beautiful location but not loads of busy nightlife.

Alton Towers and the water park? Although not sure how good it is for younger ones and it will be very busy as it’s half term

Legoland is heinous in half terms. (I guess most theme parks will be unfortunately)

Carden Park in Cheshire is a lovely hotel with activities.

Blackpool is tacky as all but kids do seem to really love it.

Has he got any other interests?

You could base it around one of these?

10 of the best (and most beautiful) heated outdoor pools in the UK

We like Paignton and Torquay. There are a couple of slightly smaller parks on the area. Woodlands (?) And Crealy. Could stay in the new forest and go to paultons park

Drayton Manor in Tamworth.
You could stay at the hotel and then the next day go to the Snowdome ?

Don’t laugh, but Peterborough if he wants outdoor swimming. The lido is lovely (I swim regularly there), you’ve got Flag Fen , Ferry Meadows country park has splashy water bits and a day trip to London would be easy.

I was going to say Wales too. Not swimming but Greenwood forest park is great.

You can fly between UK and Ireland with Id only so could fly to Dublin? Go to emerald Park? Would still mean he gets to go on a plane etc. I think there's a water park near there too but not sure if any outside? There's a lot of hotels darted around that run buses or beside train stations to get there

I think there are also some cave trampolines and a huge zipwire thing? Not at Greenwood forest park, but in Wales. Vague as I haven't been to the place that has them - I think it's in a quarry.

Ohh yes, not been but looks great - Bounce Below at zipworld.

Bounce below in Wales is great. The Zip World company have several sites in North Wales which are great. The site with the Fforest Coaster also has a mini zip wire course for little ones and trampoline nets in the trees.

I'd recommend Greenwood for kids as well.

Where in the UK are you OP?
