Recommendations for 'Womens' Weekend' in London.

My close friend is turning 40 next year and I'd love to organise a trip for us and 3 or 4 of her close female friends to go to London and watch Les Miserables.

I've only been to London once before and, as a bit of a country mouse, I find it a little daunting, but my friend has had a shit year with her mum dying and deserves an amazing weekend.

Is there such a thing as companies that book a package, or is it better to book things individually? I'll need to try to keep the costs down as much as possible to enable all friends to attend.

What other things would be good to arrange for the weekend, in addition to the show?

All help much appreciated.

Disclaimer: I know the phrase "women's weekend" is a little cringey, but I think we're getting on a bit too much to say "girly weekend".

Would you like a nice afternoon tea in a posh venue or hotel? Any interest in museums - art or history? I love to just walk around London and take in the famous sights, no matter how often I've been before. If you like royalty, Kensington palace is amazing place to visit or the Crown Jewels in the Tower of London. I went last summer with my sister, first night was Hamilton, second night a play she really wanted to see. Day time was Westminster Abbey one day and the V&A the other. I've been going to London regularly since childhood and there is always something amazing about the atmosphere (and I'm from a very rural place in Ireland, Queen country mouse!)

ETA lots of museums are free to visit while KP or BP /westminster abbey are quite expensive.

But what does the friend having the birthday like doing? What do you like doing? There’s no ‘standard London weekend’. When I go back there, I cram in as many exhibitions and classic music concerts as I can, maybe a play at the NT, dinner at Bocca di Lupo, maybe lunch at Borough — but those are my preferences…

Amazed that I've had responses already. Thank you.
Afternoon tea and a museum might be a good shout - any recommendations for somewhere very 'London' to get afternoon tea or any hotel recommendations.

I've been recently on a similar weekend and we stayed in a premier inn hub with rooms to ourselves (I hate room sharing!) If you're coming into St Pancras there's the King's Cross PI Hub, it was clean/comfortable, friendly, conveniently located and not too expensive. Coal Drops Yard nearby for an easy walk to place for drinks/food/a bit of shopping, good tube access for theatres. As a previous poster said, Borough Market is a great place to spend an afternoon into evening, some nice little bars round there too that felt quite chilled. So many museums to choose from that are free, depends what is of interest. Also, Sky Garden might be nice to visit, it's free and tickets become available about 3 weeks before. Be quick on the tickets though as they go quickly at weekends!

What’s your budget for afternoon tea?
