What to do in Newcastle?

I don't drive but will be close to a metro station. I have no children and it'll just be me. (Well, visiting a friend but apart from one or two days they're working so have to entertain myself)

I like museums, science / technology and football. (Not Newcastle United!)

I do have an Art Fund card but couldn't find any inspiration on their website!

There are two cat cafes and a dog cafe. I can highly recommend all of them.

Theatre Royal often have good shows on.

The north Hancock museum is a lovely museum for free , if your there on a Sunday there's a lovely food market on the quay .

You can also jump on the metro and go to Tynemouth for a seaside visit

Potter about the Quayside pop over the bridge and visit the Baltic art gallery and/or the biscuit factory.
Jump on the metro to the coast and walk from Tynemouth to Whitley Bay (or vice versa).
Visit the castle, the tunnels under the city, the Hancock museum, the Discovery museum.
Have a stroll in Jesmond Dene.

Ouseburn is a 'vibey' area to bimble about, grab a coffee and watch the world go by.

I second hopping on a train to the Seaside at Tynemouth if the weather is nice.

Lots of shops cafes and restaurants in Newcastle.

Newcastle Castle advertises historical walks. I have lived in the area for decades and would love to do one of these. Struggling with links right now, but head to newcastlecastle.co.uk and go to the What's On page.

Lots of great museums (Great North, Discovery) and galleries (Laing, Baltic, although that's over the river) in town, and you will be close to the seaside via the metro.

Be warned, about the weather if you fancy a trip to the beach. In May and June it can be cold and foggy by the coast, even when it's hot and sunny just a few miles inland. Check the forecast and look for webcams showing the beaches in real time.

There might be concerts on at the big hall in Gateshead.
Take the Metro to the coast.
I love Newcastle and go a few times a year to stay with a friend.

Culture - Baltic , Lit & Phil library, Victoria Tunnel, the castle

Shopping - Fenwick , Granger Market, lots of high street stores like Primark etc.

Food - Blackfriars, Dabbawal , El Coto.

Get the bus into Northumberland. There's places like Alnwick.
