Where should we stay? We have a boisterous 3 year old and 6 month old, and looking to go in June time. Want things to do with the 3 year old if the weather is bad (otherwise will happily stay on the beach for days), and some nice pubs for mum and dad.

We stayed in Seahouses last Feb, appreciate it'll have a different feel in summer but wanting to try somewhere else just to see somewhere new.

Bamburgh? Cresswell? Both on stunning beaches. Maybe Amble as you get the boat from there to watch the seals and puffins.

Or inland in Alnwick. The castle and treehouse cafe are great.

Or near Whitley Bay for St Mary's lighthouse and loads more touristy things to do if weather's not great.

Brilliant holiday choice. I love Northumberland.

I love northumberland!

What about berwick? Spittal beach my favorite place. There are some flats on the prom and the view! Gentle 30 minute stroll over the bridges into berwick. There's the Quay walls ( try and find the secret tunnel) walk to the light house. Or a trip to chain Bridge honey farm . There's a museum in town and a swimming pool on the top of the hill.

The haven site in berwick itself is really good 👍 5 minute walk to 2 beaches.
You can always ride the coastal bus stopping at the little villages

How about haggerston castle if you like that kind of place?
Otherwise I'd say Alnwick as a base then you are close to bamburgh, holy island, seahouses.
Northumberland is gorgeous.

Lovely site, caravan was spotless, pool for the kids and it wasn’t crazy busy either.

We go to Northumberland a lot as my DH's family is from NE. With children that age I'd probably opt for Alnwick too. 3 year old will probably really enjoy Lilidorei at Alnwick castle (as well as the water fountains of course) and yes you are near Bamburgh which is also good for days where the weather is a bit crap. Being further south in Alnwick also means you could pop down to Newcastle for the day (presuming you have car only 45 mins) and theres loads of fun wet weather activities there if needed. Discovery museum is free and has a great water play zone that my DD loved at that age, Life Science centre is really interactive and The Baltic is nice to wander round with kids on a miserable wet day.

Warkworth is good for its fab castle, which a three year old (and adults) wuould love exploring on a non-beach day. The town is beautifu; too, with at least one lovely pub and a nice riverside walk.
Craster could be good. There is a wonderful walk from there to Dunstanburgh castle (a very ruined castle standing dramatically on the coast), and the other side of the castle there is a stunning beach. Golden sand, shallow, crystal sea.

Alnmouth is a lovely village standing by lovely beaches. Some good pubs and (I think) a fair few holiday properties

If you want the beach then Alnmouth, Warkworth, Beadnell would be likely best choices. Although these are not like Seahouses. Alnwick would be a great base but no beach on the doorstep.
