Blu - did you live in N NOrfolk? If so how old are you? We may know each other!?

Blu · 27/03/2008 14:00

Oooh - a badge

I can picture where it is, now.

SixSpot - are you taking a car wih you?

Blu · 27/03/2008 14:04

Panda - no, I have never lived there for more than a month at a time. We went every year for hols, mostly to Blakeney, and then my parents moved there permanently over 20 years ago! I am over 40... My brother and his family live near N walsham. Over the years I have spent weeks and weeks in N Norfolk, and now take ds up for hols and family visiting!

where do your ps live?

PandaG · 27/03/2008 14:09

My Ps live in Sheringham - so I disagree on your assessment of which has the better beach, Sheringham or Cromer! I'm later 30's. WE visit Sheringham several times a year, and the DC spend a week at a time with their grandparents several times a year too!

Oh, I'm prepared to do further R&D on the Sheringham / Cromer beach assessment, with an open mind! I think I have always encountered Sheringham at high tide...and don't generally go to Sh or Cr for beaches, beause as Blakeney is midway between Sheringham and Wells, we usually head for Wells.

I love Sheringham. Have been on the Steam Train once or twice too often, though!

PandaG · 27/03/2008 14:22

Yes, Sheringham beach at high tide not so inspiring, but when the tide is out is lovely, such golden sand, and then stretches of rocks to go crabbing on. My Dad is still pretty fit and young in outlook, and really loves taking my 2 on the beach, even in gthe depths of winter.

We tend not to go to any other beaches as Sheringham beach is a 1 min walk from P's house.

I personally wouldn't want to live in N NOrfolk, but it is such a lovely place to visit, and to retire to.

Blu · 27/03/2008 14:50

Actually, you have reminded me - we have not done rocks / rock pools - so will be off to Sheringham beach on next visit.

Oh - and another travel advisor tip:

Crabbing from Blakeney quay! Hook-less humane crab lines and nets available cheaply from the little shops at the other end of the quay, crabbing bait scraps available from Weston's Fish shop or Ginger's seafood caravan on the car park, and away you go!
