We're in Scotland and spend a lot of time on the East Coast. Gorgeous beaches most of them also dog friendly. West Coast more forest woodland Loch walks.

Sounds fantastic. Could you possibly name some specific locations? Places to visit, also places for an overnight stay?

Thank you!

Cromer, that's great to know. I appreciate the specific location, it really helps to know the name of a town or beach etc,.

Are dogs allowed inside National Trust properties, or did you mean the gardens?

I'm looking for places not so overrun than the usual touristy spots, too. Its like running a gauntlet of dogs..😅🐕🐕🐕
I'm aiming for less stress..and a moon on a stick

Where are you in the UK? It'll be easier to make suggestions.

I stayed in the Hayfield/Glossop area of Peak District and it was very dog friendly.

The beach at Newton in Wales is super dog friendly all year round.

In the South East, so day trips in Sussex, Surrey, Kent, Hampshire, then short breaks elsewhere, and maybe a week or so in Wales / Scotland.

Penrith in Cumbria, and the surrounding towns (Keswick, etc.,) are all very dog friendly, and there are some lovely walks, too.

Kent - a lot of places the beaches have restrictions from May 1st. However, Bexhill the restricted area is quite short. The town isn’t much to shout about, but there’s a nice promenade walk and pebbly beach.

As Riverlee mentions just be aware of restrictions on beaches. Some beaches start the no dog season as early as 31st March and generally run until September/ October.

Not all National Trust places are dog friendly, depends on the individual management. We’ve been caught out like that before. Loads are dog friendly and let you sit in the cafe with your dog. Some, like Cliveden in Bucks wait until you’re at the door of their huge glasshouse that they use as a cafe to tell you that dogs can’t go in, despite there being absolutely loads of room to sit completely out of the way. Best to ring ahead and check.

It's been a few years, but the Lake District was dog friendly. In Ambleside dogs were welcome in many shops and restaurants, and pubs obviously. Dogs can go on the Eskdale steam trains and the Windermere cruises.

Same in Northumberland. Bamburgh Castle and beach are dog friendly. We went on a boat trip there too.

English Heritage are exceptionally dog friendly. There's only a small handful of their properties you can't take dogs into. They always have dog treats under the counter when you go in.

If you zoom into an area on Google maps and put "dog friendly" into the search bar it will bring up pubs/cafes that allow dogs.

The Lakes and the Peak District are generally very dog friendly. It's more unusual to find pubs that don't allow dogs as most do.
