Inspiration needed for UK family breaks

Thinking about where we can go this year for long weekends or up to a week in the UK.

DC's are 12 and 9. One of them enjoys adrenaline activities / outdoors / countryside and the other is more into shopping but also likes galleries, theatre etc and both like the beach and swimming.

In recent years we have done:

Centre parcs (when younger, they loved it but we found it expensive and a bit naff but had a good time)
York
Dumfries and Galloway
Norfolk coast
Cornish coast
London (they both enjoyed this a lot so we could do it again but obviously was expensive)
Camping in Derbyshire dales (but only in fair weather)
North Wales (had a good time but we felt it wasn't as nice as Cornwall / Norfolk)

We have just done a city break abroad which actually was great fun and everyone enjoyed it but it was pretty exhausting for us as parents as we were constantly on the go and trying to manage sibling squabbles / keep everyone happy. Ideally I would like to go somewhere where there's some sort of entertainment / activities the kids can do by themselves. Can't think of anywhere like this other than Centre Parcs for this sort of age - does it exist? I have thought I would like to take them to Edinburgh but again not sure if it would just be really hard work managing to kids who want to do different things!

All ideas welcome. Budget will be approx £800-1000 for a long weekend and £2000 (all in) for a week so not a huge budget.

Also just remembered we have done Northumberland quite recently also - enjoyed it but it was freezing!

Lake District

Keswick Youth Hostel to keep accommodation costs down.

Adrenaline: Honnister Via Ferrata
Culture: the various Wordsworth houses

And masses in-between.

Keswick has an excellent theatre.

You can swim in many of the lakes. If you're in Keswick Derwent is convenient, but Rydal is nicer. A lovely day out is to visit Rydal (Wordsworth's house, you can park there), walk a few minutes down the hill for a dip in the lake, then warm up with a meal at the Badger Inn before driving back to wherever you're staying.

Ok I will have a look at Keswick. DH and I have been to the lakes a few times together but not been with the kids since they were small - mainly as they didn't enjoy the big walks!

Croyde, North Devon. A few holiday parks there that are right by the beach with activities. Could also look at Woolacombe.
Swanage or Studland Bay in Dorset. Knoll House Hotel has organised activities, a pool etc. & is right by the beach.

Pembrokeshire - Tenby is a great place for kids/teens. Loads to do, beautiful beaches, great food, loads nearby.

Aviemore - you could do a night or two in Edinburgh on the way (assuming you're coming from further south).

We've booked Landal Dylan Coastal Resort this year.

Places we've enjoyed, that would suit older children:

Barend Holiday Lodges
Cwmiar Farm Cottages
White Cross Bay Holiday Park
Middlewood Farm Holiday Park

I feel the area between Caernarfon and Aberporth in Wales has just as much to offer as Cornwall plenty to see and do.
The llyn peninsular has many spectacular beaches.
