Hi

We are looking to book a trip to London in the summer months for our 4 year old to celebrate their birthday.

Are there any must do/hidden gems for this age group? Any brilliant places to eat? me and DH have been many times before but obviously it was all geared around grown ups!

Thank you

Keep your itinerary simple, don't rush around! Mine always love an open top bus and the Uber boat on the river, you can see a lot of sights without much walking. Otherwise chose one or two key attractions that you know they'll enjoy (a museum, zoo, aquarium), maybe Transport or Science museum? Factor in some outdoor time, the playground in Holland Park is amazing.

Postal Museum would be good for a 4 year old

A day in Greenwich would be great if you have time. There's the Maritime Museum, Cutty Sark, etc plus the park (which has an excellent playground with sand and water).

These are all great thank you, I'm very conscious of not getting carried away and planning in lots with little legs getting tired quickly!

Postal Museum in Clerkenwell and Naval Museum in Greenwich have good kids things you have to book in advance. Science Museum but in the basement is good though four maybe a bit young to get the most out of the Wonderlab. My then 4yo always adored London Zoo. Also loved the Tower of London. The Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green is meant to be great now but also very busy. Def don't plan too much each day and make the bus/tube journeys part of the adventure.

There a Peppa Pig afternoon tea bus tour if that’s your DCs kind of thing.

I live in London and nothing has bettered London Zoo for my 4 year old. You can explore Regents Park at the same time of there's any energy left, and there are loads of food options around Baker Street.

The zoo or postal museum followed by Coram fields is good. Getting the bus is always fun and if you can do a short taxi in a black cab that's always a hit here

I'd do one museum (natural history was a favourite with mine young as they loved the earthquake simulation) though they are all good - choose based on her interests. I would definitely recommend the Uber boat down the river and lunch in Greenwich and play in the park. I would also highly recommend the zoo and the tower of London but both take a whole day realistically

My kids love Paddington bear so we went around to find the Paddington statues :) nice canalside around Paddington as well!

This is a lovely picture book story book. Maybe you could read it prior to going, and then see the sights mentioned in it.

London Aquarium and Natural HistoryMuseum are probably the best two things for that age IMO

Thank you so much everyone, lovely ideas, and with the book as well, she loves books so a great way to introduce her to the city!

The cable car! It's stupid and doesn't go anywhere but it is brilliant for kids
