Wet weather activities in Norfolk

We're spending half term in Thetford Forest and it looks like it's going to rain most of the week. Looking for recommendations for fun indoor/wet weather activities round here. We have a 2 yo girl and 4 yo boy. Happy to drive an hour or so for the right activity.

Obviously I have done/am doing my own research too - we didn't come to Norfolk in Feb expecting warm and sunny - just wondered if anyone on MN had insider knowledge.

You could have a full day out in the Wroxham area. There’s lots to do for kids at Wroxham Barns (including soft play) and there’s Wroxham Miniature World. You can catch the Bure Valley Railway from the Wroxham station. There’s a special teddy bear event on this half term.

When we were in Norfolk this time last year we went to Hunstanton on the rainy day. Amusements and the sea life centre-expensive! Also, we went to Bewilderwood when it was lightly drizzling, but the tree cover made it seem dry!

Sheringham
Dinosaur park
The horse sanctuary nr Aylsham is donation only
Pettits (if it's open now) is good for smaller ones
Balance bikes can be hired for free at Blickling NT
There is a sealife trail in the Chantry shopping center in Norwich which is free
Sealife centre in Great Yarmouth and the Tine and Tide museum is good and free for the ages of your children

Thank you all, great suggestions! Wroxham looks ideal, will definitely head there one day. I hope to make it to the coast one day too although when I asked DS if he wants to go to the beach he said 'no thanks, I've been before' 😂

You weren't wrong about the rain!

Tots Town in Hethersett is great for the ages of your two: https://tots-town.co.uk/
I haven't been there for AGES but when we went you had to book, probably still the case...

Tots Town Childrens Role Play Centres

Also, Thetford Garden Centre has a really nice cafe and is weirdly entertaining for little ones Grin Obviously won't take up a whole day but a nice place to go for lunch if you don't want to venture far!

Assume you're not at Center Parcs... if you want to take them swimming, Abbeycroft Leisure in Bury St Edmunds has a pirate ship with a little slide. We found the pool a bit chilly though so ideally they'd have warmish swimwear or you just wouldn't spend hours there.

Thanks all! No, not at Center Parcs although I have just been on their website to see if they do day passes (only if you're visiting a guest apparently).

We've actually only had one really bad weather day (yesterday). DD and I went to Wroxham Barns and saw a lamb being born! Today's forecast doesn't look great either so we might check out some of these other places, although it's not raining yet. Really appreciate the recommendations.

We've had a great time!

Wow, seeing the lamb being born must have been amazing!
Glad you're having a good week so far Smile
It's rained so much where I am (not Norfolk, but not too far - East Anglia) and it has been a struggle to entertain the kids this week!
