Recommendations in Glasgow

Visiting Glasgow tomorrow for a gig at the Barrowland Ballroom, but staying quite far out in the Hillhead area. We will be taking our car to Glasgow but was hoping to enjoy our night with a few drinks before heading to the gig. We don't know Glasgow well at all, so can anyone recommend the best way to get around, and any recommendations for food and drinks where we would be in walking distance to the Barrowland Ballroom?

I'd recommend travelling on the underground from Hillhead to St Enoch and then it's about a 20 minute walk to the Barrowlands following straight along Argyle Street. The last underground trains leave St Enoch at about 23.30 so if you hotfoot it out the concert you should be able to catch the subway back to the west end.
If it's a rainy evening you might want to enjoy your evening close to the Barrowlands so I'd suggest St. Luke's and the Winged Ox, The Gate or 226 Gallowgate all a stone's throw from the venue. Hope this helps and have a lovely time.

Amazing, that's so helpful. Thank you! Never used the underground before, are they pretty easy to navigate? Can you buy tickets at the station?

Yep the subway is wee and circular and buy tickets at machines there, dead easy.

Glasgow Celtic are playing at Celtic Park tomorrow so that area will be busy.

The Glasgow underground is just a circle and a doddle to use. Tickets are easy to buy (at the station iirc)

Have fun - I wish you fine weather.

Thank you. The forecast isn't looking great, but fingers crossed!

If you’re staying in the West End there are tons of places to eat and drink in the Byers Road area.
