Lego land Windsor

Hello,

Hoping this is the correct topic.

I am trying to plan a break to Legoland Windsor for the end of school holidays. We (myself, DP and DS5) will be travelling from Newcastle to Windsor by car, unfortunately staying in the LL hotel is out of our price range as we are travelling to Disney this year. I am hoping to find out the best hotel for staying near to LL and travelling in by car. We'd then be getting the tickets separately but do we need one or two days in LL? We don't want to rush round with DS who complains of walking 😂

We're hoping to tie in a stay in Chester to visit the zoo so I'm just weighing up the options. Also, once when in LL, are there places to eat or do you need to take your own food? We'd need somewhere preferably near a pub/somewhere to eat when staying over too.

Thank you ☺️

There are places to eat in LL, but it’s over priced and a bit basic/grim. There are lockers near the main entrance so you could always take a picnic in and go back to the locker to pick it up. One day has always been plenty for us tbh. We always stayed a bit away from LL so can’t recommend accommodation but you will find places to eat. have a look on trip advisor, there will be reviews of accommodation and places to eat.

LL is nowhere near Chester though, it’s well over 3 hours, so not sure that’s a tie in visit?

Legoland Windsor is not the place for people who don’t like walking as it’s on a big hill , I’d personally do 1 day Legoland and 1 day Chessington world of Adventures - which is a superior park IME .

We take a backpack full of lunchbox type snacks. Children eat through the day while they are queues.

You can sit down and eat the main bits from your packed lunch while you wait for a show and the other parent goes off to queue for a coffee.

We usually only buy an icecream for kids and coffees for adults. You do not want to be queuing for the very expensive food on top of queueing for rides.

Chessington is great for little ones and has the animals too.

Staying in Slough will be considerably cheaper and it's only a 10 minute drive from the m4 junction. There is food in legoland but as previous posters have said its mediocre and expensive. Eat a packed lunch while watching the pirate show! (Not sure if you said what time of year you're going) the queues get v long so if you want to do everything I would book 2 days, then you can enjoy shows, miniland and play areas while you're there.

We stayed in the Holiday Inn Express and drove into Legoland (about 20 minutes) and parked on site, room was lovely and beds were really comfortable. Had breakfast both mornings and evening meal. Food and drink in Legoland is expensive in my opinion, but it's what you would expect to pay at an attraction if that makes sense

Also we did one day and that was enough 😊 massive queues though!

We've stayed in Slough or around Heathrow. Only ever done one day but a full day - in when it opens and away as it closes.

Have never been in normal school hols tho!

If you're travelling all that way I would be tempted to do 2 days. You can get discounted tickets lots of ways tho.

We've always done the hotel and tickets on tesco vouchers tbh x

We've stayed at the De Vere Beaumont, nice hotel and the package was reasonable. Although you've mentioned buying tickets separately, it might be worth checking the packages with the partner hotels.

On both occasions we have found the opening hours too short (10-6 I think?) to get everything done in one day, mainly because the queues are so long.
Food is OK but no better than that. We loaded up from the breakfast buffet which saw us through most of the day.
